A non-confession

I did not eat on plan this weekend.

On Friday night I had a BOATLOAD of wine, and some sort of cheese sticks, on Saturday, I had a burger and fries, and yesterday I had cheese pizza. Not great for a low-carber.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. I don't feel 'off the wagon' panic - because I've tried hard not to think of myself as 'on a wagon' to begin with - what with this being a for-life change and all.

My immediate reaction is guilt - but I even argue with that....the idea that any food could be 'sinful' is part of what leads to the mentality that overweight = bad person. So I try not to go there.

Why did I do it? I think I just wanted to - simple as that seems. Some of it may be emotional - I'm pretty sure that 4 months after getting left for another woman, I hit the "anger" stage this weekend.

I'm not sure how I feel today. Numb. I went grocery shopping this morning - I got the right stuff. I'll drink more water than usual this week, to counteract the carb/water bloat. And I'll probably hold off on weighing until next weekend (I'm usually a daily weigher).

I'm gearing up for the next 20 lbs...

ya know after all my time here I do not understand the oh my god i'm so ashamed/guilty I ate "fill in the blank". We are human, eating not so healthy things is normal to do as long as it isn't a weekly habit. So I say glad you had a good time this weekend and good for you going straight back into a healthier week to come.

Eating off your plan now and again won't hurt you as much as you think. Cheese pizza, generally 300 calories a slice, burger and fries, depending on the burger and the fries, 500-800 potentially less. 85 calories per 3.5 oz so even if you drank a whole bottle that's only 680 calories. The cheese sticks, well depends on what they were breaded with and how big.

Really if you are essentially eating healthy, working out or exercising regularly. That's pretty insubstantial even at 3 days straight.

Like you said this is about a life style change, you want to be healthier. You've already come along way, do you honestly think allowing yourself to have things like that to eat now and again is going to mess up a wanted change in your life? Not a chance.

Good luck with that next 20 and your changes in life. You'll do great.

You'll be fine! It was only one weekend and you're back on track. If this journey is like a marathon, you just stopped to smell the roses, but you're still running the race.

Thank you for this thread! Yesterday, my DH cooked a whole chicken with potatoes and carrots. It was delish! I ate a regular sized portion, but found myself still a little hungry and thinking about how good it was. So about an hour after dinner, I went into the kitchen and pulled a chunk of chicken off the bone and ate it - and then felt horribly guilty. I recognized it was crazy to be feeling guilty about a little chunk of chicken but I did.

I need threads like this to remind me that I have to learn to live a little - and go off plan a little - if I want this to be a forever change, not just a now change!
