I think I might have a problem!

Okay so I just started to diet a couple of days ago. I am very excited however, I have stepped on the scale a least 10 times since then. I have lost 6 lbs so far (yay for water weight :D) which is great motivation. I know that I will not lose 3 lbs everyday but I am just scared that if I keep doing this I will start to get upset if I don't lose anything. I know I should only weigh myself once maybe twice a week but I can't help it. Does anyone else have this problem or is it just me? :?:

I weigh myself twice a day. Once in the morning and once in the evening. It really helps me stay on track and monitor how my weight fluctuates. I don't see any problem with weighing yourself all the time. Some people go crazy seeing the scale everyday but I'd go crazy if i only checked my weight once a week.

As long as you don't see "success" or "failure" based on the numbers ... but I know I prefer to check it more infrequently. Don't get nutso and start limiting glasses of water because you want to see a lower number at the end of the day, or skipping heavier weighing fruits for little 100 cal packs of nothing, etc.

But really - what everyone else sees is not the number on the scale - so ... don't get too caught up in that. Take some measurements of your body and do that monthly, too. That's what fits into your clothes.

I weigh whenever I feel like it, however, I will only change my ticker based off of occassional morning weigh-ins.

I think it's fine to weigh more often so long as it doesn't lead to frustration. The scale goes up and down constantly throughout the day; so long as over time it's on a downward slide I don't stress.

I'm a frequent weigher too. I like keeping track - I log it everyday on fitday in the morning, and change it "officially" on my tracker once per week. I also step the scale in the evenings, and basically whenever I feel like it. I'm interested in the fluctuations - as long as it doesn't drive you nuts or cause you to obsess, I say go for it!!

Hi! Good job on your weight loss. You are off to a great start. Whether you weigh once a day or once a week it's up to you. If you get a chance go into the 100's support and look at the January daily weigh in thread and look at some of the ladies daily weight. You will see what normal weight loss looks like. I never realized until I kept a journal with my weight and the date what daily differences we had in our weight. It is completely normal to lose a pound one day gain two the next and back and forth all week long. But if you look at the numbers over a period of weeks or a month you will see a steady downward spiral in the numbers. Some weeks I lose 1 lb. some weeks 2 lbs. some weeks 0 lbs. Some weeks show a gain. All normal. I have learned that is what it looks like. And not to get so upset and give up just because the scale is not moving as fast as I think it should. The weight journal has helped me learn how sodium influences my weight. So I have learned to back off the sodium as much as possible.
Weight loss is a journey filled with many frustrations, struggles and incredible joys! Be sure to keep a journal with the date, your weight, foods eaten, and include all your measurements from your neck to your ankles. You will enjoy watching those numbers go down. :carrot: Yay Nicole!!
