Resource for calorie counting and meal prepairing?

  • Hi alls, sometimes I am a rebel in the kitchen. Sometimes I just throw ish together untill I get something that works.

Since I don't always follow a recipe is there a website where I can plug in what I am putting together and get the total calories where I can then divide into servings? I know I *can* do the math myself, but A. I don't always trust my accuracy and B. I don't wanna!

THanks for any help or ideas!
  • I have tried many recipe calculators but i find this one to be the easiest to use because it has a huge data base of foods. If you don't find your specific food, try searching in "shared foods" . Chances are, someone has entered your specific ingredient into the database

  • I had tried the calorie counting and personally got fusterated with it. As you i enjoy cooking at home and trying to figure out the calorie count and all got to be a pain in the butt!!
  • I think this is what you are looking for:

I use it all the time. Copy/paste your recipe (no need to look up food by food) and it will calculate things for you. It is the least tedious to use, I think. I have found, though, that with certain foods it picks really strange equivalencies - like, I made something with some mayonaise, and it put in salad dressing. So I had to go and put in an actual brand name for it to find the right food.

Try it and see if you like it!
  • abluvion -- Wow, that recipe analysis is GREAT!!! Thanks!
  • THANK YOU! That is just what I was looking for!

I joined the SparkPeople one and really liked it! I will try the second link next time I cook.
