Things went well. I made one normal sized dinner plate of food with a variety of all my favorite things. I ate slowly and stopped eating once I started getting full and left a few of the "good but not great" foods still on my plate. Then I had to run back to work, which was a relief because I didn't have to make any (legitimate) excuses about being too full for dessert. After I got off work, I was hungry again and had a whole slice of pumpkin pie at home. I weighed in this morning out of morbid curiosity and I didn't gain anything overnight.
Overall, it was a very enjoyable day. And I was SO glad I didn't overdo it, especially once I got back to work. I wouldn't want to try working all stuffed and drowsy with a tight belt and a tummy ache. :o |
The biggest triumph for me was that I was able to emotionally detach from the whole Pig Out mentality that is so much a part of Thanksgiving. I was more focused on the people than the menu which, sadly, has not been the case in previous years.
The hors d'œuvre and the desserts are usually my biggest downfall, but I easily limited myself to small amounts...and I didn't feel deprived! And all I ate for dinner was a generous serving of turkey and a teensy amount of dressing. (The vegetables were salads filled with fruit or floating in sweet dressing or camouflaged in mayonnaise. So no veggies for me.) I didn't get in any exercise, though. I planned to run in the morning but it was bitter cold and windy and rainy. All in all, it was a very good day! :D Next challenge....Christmas. |
*I went to a Zumba Party (1 1/2 hrs long) the day before. Wasn't planned but a friend asked me to come with her, so I did and loved it....worked my butt off.
*I focused on protein and only had a spoonful of each carb....no bread. *only ate to be satisfied but not full. *ate small the whole day. |
