There is no candy.

Nope.

There is not an enormous and growing pile of leftover Halloween candy on the give-away counter of my office break area.

I refuse to see it. I do not acknowledge its existence. :nono:

All right? Who's with me?

mmel3283 11-01-2010 10:11 AM

I am jumping on that train!

stacygee 11-01-2010 10:13 AM

Stay away! There is nothing good that could come from that!

katy trail 11-01-2010 10:13 AM

yes! there is no candy. there is no spoon. let's band together and beat that craving with a stick! saying no to candy feels so much better than the guilt from eating too much of it. WE CAN DO IT! there is no candy. (rinse and repeat as often as needed)

SCraver 11-01-2010 10:24 AM

Did you know that the FDA allows a ceratain % of bug parts in chocolate and candy? How 'bout now? Wanna eat it now? hee hee hee.

lazylioness 11-01-2010 10:46 AM

No candy is going to taste as good as you remember!

time2lose 11-01-2010 10:54 AM

Do you mean the candy that our sick AA just sneezed on?

jackiemomto3 11-01-2010 11:15 AM

Thats right!! There are not three bags full of candy in my kitchen pantry, nope nothing! Bwahahahaaa LOL Now if I can only convince my three candy crazy boys!

odonnela 11-01-2010 11:23 AM

Candy? What candy.....nothing tastes as good as being thin feels.

I ate one miniature last night (42 calories), promptly bagged the rest and put it in our "candy cubicle" here at work. Good thing I've sworn off the candy cube (it's off-limits unless I'm putting food IN)... now I can get it out of my head!

Good luck everyone!

Sunshine73 11-01-2010 01:38 PM

You're right. There is no candy. (also? there are no brownies or pumpkin bars in the kitchen at my office). Especially not the pumpkin bars. :p

munchievictim 11-01-2010 02:00 PM

we had NO TRICK OR TREATERS!!! so there's candy EVERYWHERE. I mean...there is not candy everywhere...
but there is :/
*jedi mind trick?*

TheBunneh 11-01-2010 02:25 PM

Heh. Every time I see the title of this topic all I can think is the cake is a lie. :p

@munchievictim That is exactly what I was afraid would happen! We just moved here and I had no idea how many kids would come by and I didn't want to get stuck with a giant bowl of candy.

So we kept the lights off and watched movies while pretending we weren't home. There was only one knock on the door and I didn't hear any kids or people outside (and we ALWAYS hear when there are people outside) so I'm glad we didn't get the candy.

YES.

Candy is GLaDOS trying to lure you into a fire.

The bag says 5 pieces, 210 calories... I did the math and the whole bag is OVER 3000! Glad I got it out of the house when I did!! :carrot:

saef 11-01-2010 03:51 PM

Our office is boobytrapped today.

In the pantry, there is a big bag of candy which I choose not to acknowledge as existing.

But when I set down my laptop at my cube, I discovered a regular-sized Hershey bar sitting right in the center of my desk. From my employer. Partly because of the holiday, but also because they made my dept move to another bldg while they renovate our old bldg, and the new quarters are cramped. (To promote collaborative behavior. All it makes me want to do is kill all my colleagues, so I can have more space for myself.) They think bribing me with candy makes it all better.

I am not five.

I am not eating that candy bar.

I am going to put that Hershey bar in the freezer at home for my mother's next visit. Damn thing. It won't call to me from there.

Arctic Mama 11-01-2010 04:45 PM

There really is no candy around here! Amen to that :)

sweetnlow28 11-01-2010 05:46 PM

There is no candy here...even though there are actually four large ziplock bags full of candy and about 100 mini bags of chips from the kids trick or treating adventures...OMG! But there is no candy here lol
I "slipped" a little last night and ate 4 mini chocolates and a bag of chips but today is a new day and I don't intend to let that happen again. All that candy went in the closet for the kid's to pick 1 item at desert each day. What ever is left over after four weeks is going to be donated somewhere or thrown away. Out of sight, hopefully out of mind :)

carter 11-01-2010 06:07 PM

I got through the day without acknowledging the candy. I'm sure there will be plenty more as the week wears on but I can live with it.

I am definitely one of those people for whom "eat no candy" is much, much, much easier than "eat one piece of the candy."

t0rn 11-01-2010 06:13 PM

They're driving me a little nutty in my house. Candy is everywhere, cake in your face, & now the family is making cookies!

I think you're right. There is no candy.

gottadoit2010 11-01-2010 06:22 PM

Oh...there REALLY is NO candy! LOVE IT and I'm with ya all!

GreenTeaYum 11-01-2010 07:02 PM

I am avoiding the grocery store like the plague for at least a week - the discounted leftover Halloween candy is so hard to pass up!

I feel like such a scrooge. I decided not to hand out candy to kids for the first time this year simply because I didn't want the buckets of candy at home because I knew I would eat it. :( I know I could have done something like sugar free candy or little toys, but I couldn't find any good substitutes locally.

Heather 11-01-2010 07:15 PM

I also hid in the house and didn't answer the door last night. No candy had to enter the house (though one disgruntled "treater" trashed the pumpkin on my porch).

And I also successfully did not see the candy at work today. Hopefully tomorrow will be a little easier...

doingmybest 11-01-2010 07:24 PM

I had a few pieces last night. I picked only my favorite kinds and I really enjoyed them - but today I am mad at myself. :tantrum: My biggest mistake is that once I get started, I don't stop - so today, I didn't start on them. Today I am successfully back on program.

I brought in the leftover candy to work and people were not happy to see it - but it is away from me and out of sight, so I am good.

spixiet 11-01-2010 07:27 PM

You're right, there is no candy, no peanut butter eyeballs, and no Halloween themed red velvet cupcakes in the staff room. They simply are a figment of my imagination....Mmmmmm...delicious figment - but one that will not be eaten!

Nola Celeste 11-01-2010 09:23 PM

My husband, bless his heart, bought eight pounds of candy for Halloween. Not cheapo candy either, but the good stuff. He hid the bags (from both of us) and didn't take it out of the packaging until right before we were likely to get trick-or-treaters. Then it all went into a huge vat of deliciousness, waiting for kids to arrive. That massive bowl might as well have been a black hole, considering the intense gravitational pull it had on me. "It's for the kids," I told myself. And boy, was it!

I was giving that stuff out with both hands. "Here, have some more! Take a Snickers, too! You like Twix? Have two, they're small!" until my husband finally took over. "Geez, why are you giving it all away so fast?" Well DUH, honey, because if I don't, it'll still be in the house calling me!

As of today, thanks to my shoveling the stuff at kids, friends, and neighbors, there is no candy in my house--and I didn't eat any of that nonexistent candy. :)

munchievictim 11-01-2010 10:54 PM

spixiet LOL we have the peanut butter eyeballs...god those are good frozen...

thereisnocandythereisnocandy..

shcirerf 11-01-2010 11:23 PM

There really isn't any candy at our office. There are some mini Snickers at home, but DH will take those in his lunch.

You might check with your local dentists office, some are taking Halloween candy and sending it to the troops, a great way to get rid of it!

shcirerf 11-01-2010 11:26 PM

http://www.halloweencandybuyback.com/ Here is a link to the candy buy back.

fitnessdiva044 11-02-2010 03:50 AM

There is no candy, There is no candy, There is no candy, right! Now if I keep telling myself that, the big bag that my son brought home will just mysteriously disappear. There is no candy!!!

Nebuchadnezzar 11-02-2010 05:52 AM

I'm with you! Its bloody upstairs in our living room full of Reese's peanut butter cups and good god, do they know my name. I had two today. Not even going to say how many last night!

All I know is...none tomorrow. THERE IS NO CANDY.

Horo 11-02-2010 06:54 AM

There is a massive amount of candy! However, none of it is vegan-friendly and thus I have no desire to go anywhere near it.

Heather 11-02-2010 07:26 AM

I have learned in this journey that sometimes the best thing to do is to really make there be no candy. You can throw it out!!!

BillBlueEyes 11-02-2010 08:14 AM

Yes
There is
No Candy

Not sure where I saw this but most meats, especially poultry, has some degree of fecal matter in it and regardless of cleaning it. Eww. I don't eat meat so I guess I've dodged that bullet! Still, in Asia we serve chocolate covered insects that can be found at hawker centres :] That's a different cultures for ya!

Oh and back on topic.. Not a big candy eater here. I'd prefer to eat a loaf of bread. Still, throughout the entire month of October I think I've only consumed 2-3 sweets. No binging, just a taste. But my general rule is just to avoid that stuff period. Of course, I'm not going to throw out eating tasty treats entirely! I still got to live :] It's all a matter of managing what you put into your mouth.

I think some people in my office would be a little miffed if I took it upon myself to throw candy away that had been put out in the public area for everyone to enjoy. Probably not the best way to be popular around the office. ;)

Maybe I wasn't completely clear - I wasn't the one who put it there.

Anyway. Day 2 of not acknowledging that candy. It's going fine.

Heather 11-02-2010 06:30 PM

Yes, true! But I was thinking of the people who have candy (or no candy) at home or in their desks or cubicles.

queenofthehouse 11-03-2010 10:18 AM

I put a big sticky note on my boys Halloween bucket that says SELF-CONTROL. So far it's working. Unfortunately, I'm a huge fan of candy. I'm an all or nothing kind of girl, I wouldn't be able to just have a piece or two, that would turn into 20, so I'm staying away.
