Default Holiday Induced Binge

Well, this has been my first major holiday since I started calorie counting and exercising and I must say I failed the test miserably. I was doing alright until I went to bar and ended up getting really wasted on way less beers then I'm use to. There was strangely enough, also a longer delay on the alcohol truely hitting me as well so by the time I realized I was getting too tipsy and stopped drinking rather than the buzz wearing off I felt myself feeling drunkier and drunker until it felt like the world wouldn't stop spinning. 3 beers and 2 mixed drinks (were budgeted) over a three hour period has never made me sick before. Waking up with a horrible hang over I made my second mistake ordering a pizza. After napping for most of the day I took my niece trick or treating and ended up eating three pieces of her candy and then my sister asked me to go out to eat with them and I said yes and ended up ordering what looked good but probably wasn't the healthiest thing on the menu. Looking up the calories on it, it turned out to be 1400+ calories. So I'm thinking this is going to set me back atleast a pound and I feel really bad about the whole thing. I've been doing so well and usually I love the holidays but now I'm extremely anxious about Thanksgiving and Christmas.

It happens. The only thing you can do is own it, and realize this does not define your journey. Get right back on the horse tomorrow. 3 good days will help get over this one bad one.

Good luck! Don't give up and don't let this define you!

It happens, and it'll probably (definitely) happen again sometime. The really, really, REALLY important thing is that you recognize the slip and move back on plan immediately afterward.

I had a slip tonight as well. I was at a party but had to leave early because my friend got really sick and needed a ride (poor thing got food poisoning at this bar we were at). She gave me a bag of candy to take home. At home, I decided to eat just 2-3 pieces. Didn't work.

I went way over my budgeted amount of candy. It wasn't the slip that bothered me so much as my loss of control over my eating. It was like old times and freaked the heck out of me. But I'm doing okay because I stopped it and I'm moving on.

I tell myself that what's important isn't that I don't ever slip, it's that I don't ever stop going back on plan afterward.

I went out of town for 5 days. Company paid booze, meals, etc. for two of those. There's something about Denny's at midnight that brings out the worst in me. Add in hanging out at the bar when I left the clock...an amazing little home grown mom & pop diner...yeah. I'm up 3 lbs tonight. Then again, I had CA Pizza Kitchen for dinner. I should be back down again by the end of the week.

All you can do is restart and decide if it's worth it the next time a similar situation arises.
