Do any of you keep a Goal Weight Fund?

  • Hey chicks, I just wanted to share with you a little tip that I use to get myself motivated. As soon as I reach my goal weight I plan I going on a major clothing shopping spree and getting a total body makeover. (Hair, nails, eyebrows... the works.) Well, I envision that this could get quite expensive. What I do is keep a jar by my front door on the banister, and whenever I come home I reach into my pockets to see if I have any spare change. If I do it put it in there-nickels, quarters, pennies, dimes... anything. Any loose change I happened to be carrying around goes into the jar. It may seem like a lot, but in the six or so months I am assuming it will take me to reach my goal (at least I hope! ) that could add up to quite a sum. Whenever I feel like cheating or splurging I just look at that jar and it reminds me that unless I reach my goal, I can't TOUCH that money. I just look at it and think of all the beautiful clothes I will be able to buy and how good I will look in them! Do any of you do something similar?
  • I was actually just thinking about starting my own little fund for when I can go crazy on cute clothes. My husband and I are on a budget and we each get "allowance" on payday. I tend to save mine up pretty well so I was thinking about putting a portion of it aside for when it's time to start buying skinny clothes. =)
  • I may have to take your Idea.. that is a great one.. I tend to give in sometimes and splurge.. But seeing the money to go shoppin for new clothes may help!

    Thanks for the great Idea!
  • I'm doing this for mini-goals right now. My money is very tight, I live paycheck to paycheck so buying things I don't need is a very, very rare occurance. For the last few years, I have at Christmas time found all kinds of decorations for my apartment, but since it's stuff I don't need, I've passed it up. Right now I have a deal with myself that for every 7 days between now and Thanksgiving I stay completely on plan, I get $5 to put towards Christmas decorations the day after Thanksgiving. It's been a great motivator so far. I can't wait to just get a thing or two without needing it.
  • It's a great idea! I need to do something like this too.
  • This is a wonderful idea, and I think I'll try it out!
  • That is a really good idea! I like the concept of preparing for a wardrobe-overload! Haha =) I've been saving up some money for mini-goal rewards too, but I don't have any extensive or expensive prizes until I lose much more weight, so that gives me plenty of time to save up!
  • What a good idea! I've been having treats for mini-goals but I'd never thought of a Goal Budget! I will now.
  • I did something like that when I got under my original goal weight (145 lbs, my current weight that I've been maintaining for.. 2 years I think?) and I'm definitely going to do it again when I reach my new goal of 130. Getting all of those new clothes was super fun, especially the extravagant items like my corsets and a few gorgeous dresses.

Once I get to my new goal of 130 lbs and toned, I'm going to finally get a proper corset(meaning one custom made to my exact measurements) which will range from $300 - $600. I've begun saving and hope to have enough money put aside come January. Anything left over is going to my tattoo fund, another great incentive for my purposes.
  • I don't have a goal Weight Fund....but I think I will start one!!!! I figured I'd probably just go max out my Kohl's credit card once I hit my goal buying new clothes. But setting up a fund on the side will allow me to make a big payment on that card after I go hog wild! I am going to go find a big jar and start that!
  • I've been stuffing away a portion of my tips every week.

I read years a go a great idea. Everytime you exercise pay yourself a dollar then you will always have a stash to go buy some new workout gear when you need some motivation.
