I also have paranoias about health issues. Every time I get a stomach ache, my brain goes "OMG MY APPENDIX" (I even did go to the hospital once with appendix symptoms and it wasn't my appendix, although in my defense, every medical professional in that place was shocked that it wasn't...I was a classic appendicitis case symptom-wise, and the docs/nurses were already joking around and reassuring me about the surgery).

I also am somewhat compulsive about allergic reactions whenever I have to take a medication (although that one's a little more explainable, since I did take a medication once that I'd often taken before and nearly died when my throat closed and we missed the hospital exit trying to get me to the ER). Worsening this particular issue is that an allergic reaction feels VERY similar to a panic attack (impending sense of doom, racing heart, tight chest, difficulty breathing), so it's hard to convince yourself that you're really fine.

What's really helpful to me is monitoring my symptoms and coming up with differentiators. If I'm worried I have meningitis, I touch my chin to my chest - still can do it? Not meningitis. Appendicitis - bounce up and down on my toes - if it doesn't cause stabbing appendix-area pain, not appendicitis. Allergic reaction - if I can curl my tongue, it isn't swollen, therefore no allergic reaction.

Having these cues is really useful to me to determine when something is serious.

This is bad but I won't even read the side effect things they
give you with prescriptions because I'd have every one. I just
throw it away.
And yeah - moles....sucks that I am a moley person because I
have skin cancer at least once a month. I think I have it on my
back now.....but then again it may be a zit LOL. Either way I
will pick it into oblivion (anyone else with the picking??).
Like someone else said - it cucks we have to go through this but man
am I glad to have found some more people like me! I am so glad I
left the other group I was on and joined this one.
