Happy FRIDAY!!!!
Sounds like everyone is off to a great start this month and has big goals for October!!!
I can't believe it's already OCTOBER! Where did 2010 go?

Today the plan is to stay around 1200 cals and of course do Pilates for 30 mins, possibly a run later tonight...?

My goal for next weeks weigh in (10/6) is to be at 170! 2.4 pounds to go!
The month's goal is to be at 162 or less by Halloween. 10.4 pounds to go!

Everyone have a lovely Friday and enjoy your weekend! I'll post again later on...

My goal for this month is to stay OP up until I go on vacation Oct 18, and would love to drop two more pounds to be at 195 by the time I leave for vacation. Then when I'm gone for 2 1/2 weeks (Peru!) I am going to avoid alcohol and sweets. I think I'll get plenty of exercise in with walking (and hiking...have you seen the mountains around Macchu Pichu?) I need to do more thinking about how to stay on track while I'm away. I definitely do not want to gain, and would be great if I could even lose a pound or two during those 2 1/2 weeks...but will think about that as the date draws closer.

Diana - thanks for getting us started, as always!

Lauren - glad to hear you are feeling better.

Krampus - welcome!

Love - that's a great story about eating out. The bread basket can be a killer, for sure. And, yes, definitely do not move your ticker up, you are going to get back down to that number and beyond.

Dallas - congrats on keeping up with food journaling! And I love Big Bad Voodoo Daddy! Super fun!

Everybody else - let's make it a great month and make some progress! Don't forget, this is a Halloween month - who's with me on NOT eating any halloween candy this year?

I want to try to be under 200 by the end of this month!

Today my meals are gonna look like this:
Breakfast: Orange Juice and breakfast cookie
Snack: Trail Mix
Lunch: Apple Pecan half sized salad, from Wendy's
Snack: a few fiber fruit chews (actually kinda tasty)
Dinner: Chili and a bread stick.

According to fitday the calories come right around 1200, so perfect.

Went to the gym this morning and did 22 mins of cardio. Was up to doing 35 mins a month ago but failed to be consistent and have thus fallen behind on it.

Blue: You're going to do great! You're already off to a great start. Your dinner from last night sounds SUPER yummy!!! I am going to try and not eat halloween candy. That holiday is normally where my weight loss journey starts to tank. This year I am really going to have to be strong!!

Bunny: Great job on that exercise. It always feels good to get back on that horse, doesn't it?

A little bit of a ramble warning

Ok so I am feeling a little discouraged.

I was running late yesterday, didn't have time to make dinner so ordered pizza. Ok such a cop out but

I had been good all day. Ate an apple for breakfast, a potato with ground turkey and cheese for lunch and no snacks. Plus had managed to drink all 60 oz of water! So pizza shouldn't have been a problem for dinner. A slice wouldn't have been too bad. High in fats but I was going to be sensible. But then my last option for the puppy did not pan out just as I was in the middle of eating and since my coping mechanism is eating...well I overate.

I want to keep this puppy so badly but I really can't. I don't own this house, my sister does. The deal is that when I am done school I buy it from her and pay the lot rent until I am done school and take over all payments at that point. It's a trailer and the trailer park has pet rules about how many we can have. I'm already over the limit. My sister found out about the puppy and was furious. Even though I didn't intend to keep her, she was still mad. I do see their point, I really do...but it was so hard to just walk away and leave her. And I didn't want to send her to the pound. My sister is the type of person that could walk away and leave an abandoned dog. But I can't. As of typing this though, my friend just called and is going to try one more friend who has a farm and may take her.

So anyway, even though dinner wasn't healthy and I ate more than I planned I was still doing good calorie wise and water wise. I was under my calorie limit for the day.

So I get on the scale this morning. Before taking care of my morning rituals
Scale shows me up by 3 pounds again. Get off, take care of my morning rituals and then decide to weigh again and now I'm up by 4!

What on earth? I just don't feel like I am getting anywhere!! I'm yo yoing between 4 pounds.

On the plus side, well I am getting the gym membership today and am going to make it a priority to go 3 time a week. I'm a lot nervous, but I really don't have the discipline to go work out on my own.

Maybe going to the gym will start my metabolism moving in the right direction...I hope.

I'll be back later for personals.

Roxanne: Stay strong, girl! I hear you on those kinds of gains!!! I worked all September long to get rid of freakish water weight gains.

This is a time to trust the process. You're doing everything right. The weight has NO CHOICE but to come off!!

I'm sure you're stressed about the pup too. I'm sure your body's holding onto a little of that too. : Sending you positive thoughts to find that pup a home! I can't walk by a stray animal either. It'll work out. You're a good person.

Thanks Diana! It's amazing how planning helps me feel free when it comes to food. No guesswork. No worrying. I LOVE it!!!!!

ok, combined menus from thurs and today:

Thurs:
Breakfast-corn muffin
Snack- iced coffee
Lunch- salad with italian dressing, ham, and cheese
Snack- clif bar
Dinner- meatloaf with mashed potato, green beans, gravy
Snack- my favorite fall drink- Woodchuck Hard Fall Cider

Total for the day: 1811 calories, slightly over, but I did about 5 hours of waitressing, (oh yeah, my parents own a restaurant where all the food is good. and i wonder why i have junk in the trunk!)

So far today I have had:
B- corn muffin
S- tea with cream and sugar
L- meatloaf leftovers from last night
S-a few canadian mints, and a few chocolates from my desk...i HATE having chocolates on my desk!

so far: 900 calories

its pretty stormy here, don't know if we will get out for a walk, but i am hoping to. we are also helping my sister move into her house tonight and i heard talk of pizza, so i think i better watch it for the rest of the day!

Roxanne- I know that pizza problem. I can actually eat a WHOLE large… if it is there I just keep going back, going back, going back. I just can’t have it near me at all. Get to the gym and forget about that pizza!! My kids want pizza a lot and I just buy those cheap Totinos for them. I hate those and they love them. I don’t eat a bite!

Anyway- I really enjoyed seeing ya’lls goals for the month. Of course I hop I can lose 10 pounds but I have a couple of other goals that may be more important. I want to organize my weekly meals. Maybe write it all in a notebook and coordinate it to a shopping list. That way every week can already be planned and a shopping list. I think I’ll need to make 2 weeks of a plan and alternate each week. I may also need to find a couple of other dinner meals as my husband is getting bored.

Better get started!!

roxanne: Don't give up, girl! You are doing good! Don't feel bad about the pizza, because when you think about it, what would you have been eating if you hadn't been dieting? You would probably have been making unhealthy food choices all day, PLUS the pizza. Every baby step is victory; you made the decision to watch what you eat and become healthier. Be proud of yourself!

diana: I promise I won't bring Monday upon us again this week, lol! haha

vixsin: Oooooo, where are you going on your date?

I've been wondering... with all of us battling water weight, ESPECIALLY during TTOM, has anyone tried anything like Dirurex? I've never tried it and I don't know if it's a supplement or even healthy. Just curious if that would help out during the times when we can seem to drop that water weight. Opinions?

roxanne- i am so the type of person the cannot leave an kind of animal behind, i have rescued quite a few animals, and i hope you are able to find a good loving home for the pup!

raven- i am very curious to get everyone's opinions on the diurex...i have some sitting in my cabinet as we speak, i tried taking it once, but like everything else, didn't follow through....wonder if it works for anyone? is it healthy? these are the questions we need answered people!

Sorry to hear about the puppy roxanne . But great job on getting the gym membership. I've been going for about 5 weeks (but just started the serious diet thing about 3 weeks ago) and I can tell you - I HATED it too! However, once I made myself go for a few weeks and really went regularly (3 times at least), I started feeling bad when I didn't go. Now I'm almost looking forward to it. It just makes me feel like I'm really doing all I can and while I'm still putting a towel over the timer on the treadmill (if I don't I just stare at it and time seems to crawl), it's a great feeling to see the "xxx calories" at the end of your workout .
Can you maybe find someone to go with you? I have a couple friends who go with me and it helps to get me there on days when I feel like blowing it off .
Anyway, I'm sure you'll manage .

Okay, now the official check-in:

B - apple, 3 wholewheat crackers, coffee with 100ml low-fat milk (we can't get skim milk here, it's very annoying!!!!)

L - wholewheat roll - one side with Philadelphia 5% Chili cream cheese, the other with 5% cream cheese and 2 slices of Lachsschinken (I've never seen this in the US, but it's basically thin slices of ham made from the filet piece - only has about 3% fat and is delicious!)

D - 150g sesame-crusted seared Tuna, soy-glazed snap peas, and a diet coke

Will be working on another liter of water through the rest of the night and may have a piece of fruit later.

Work out: Went to the gym today and did 5k on the elliptic thingy - more than ever . Usually after 30 mins, I'm ready to dismantle the darn thing, but today - I felt totally fine and decided to keep going until I hit the 5k mark. Burned off 450 cals plus whatever the weight cycle does for me .

In other news, I had to go clothes shopping today (have a second interview on Monday and can't go in the same suit I wore on Thursday ) and it was so depressing to get the size 50 shirt (about 24/26 in US) . Definitely kicked my arse in gear even more though .

PS: I know this whole thing is about output > input but is there a good way to work out your "basic cal use"? Sorry, it's probably explained somewhere but I still have trouble remembering where all the threads are .
