My Love Handles- Help!

It's been three weeks that I've been going to the gym (3x a week).

I have finally lost my very first 10 lbs. :D

Anyway, my mother today said something along the lines of, "You're starting to look smaller, but your love handles haven't changed or reduced. Maybe you're not exercising right?"

This has me wondering if I'm truly not doing something right? OR Is it too soon to see any difference in that section?

I have also been on a diet for these past three weeks. I watch carefully what I eat etc.

I don't know if maybe I'm working on my legs more than my abdominal? I'm not sure. I'm worried that I'll look weird.

Any tips, advice, or suggestions is really appreciated.

Um yes, it's too early. For many people the mid section is the last to go. Congrats on your efforts thus far, keep up the good work!

Even if you should be showing results in that area (which, yes, as previous poster said, is usually one of the last to go), that wouldn't be helped by your exercise. You can't spot-reduce areas...your body chooses where fat comes off from.

The fact that you're losing pounds and visibly smaller? THAT means you're doing it right! :bravo:

Likely just too early. I've lost 30lbs and my stomach is a bit smaller but not much, and my love handles refuse to budge. It will come off with time though, and the closer you get to goal, the faster you see the change.

It's too soon to really say anything. Moreover, your love handles could be shrinking, but the change may be hard to see. Have you noticed differences in the way your clothes fit?
