I am here to give and receive support - I have support here but I think it is very hard for people to understand what it REALLY feels like for an obese person who is trying to change their lifestyle and lose weight. I would love to connect with others who are going through the same journey.

thanks ladies! i'm having a hard time finding support in my real life. which is sad because they all seem to know what I need to do to be healthy but won't support me when I try to. I've always had an emotional attachment to food. but i'm reteaching myself what i need. and learning who i am along the way. thanks for welcoming me! :)

As supportive and cheerleader-y as my family has been, the bottom line, it is up to me to "do this". I've found weight loss/maintenance to be one of the most solo acts in the world. It's all up to me, me and more me. I am the one that made the decision to get fit, I am the one doing all the preparing, planning, shopping, chopping, dicing, cooking, cleaning, packing up foods, resisting temptation, setting boundaries, sticking to my plan, coming up with strategies and tips to get my through, exercising, etc. It's all me, all the time.

We are definitely here for you though. You can talk it through, tell us of your ups (& hopefully very little downs), etc. :)

You have landed in one of the best possible places; this is a wonderfully supportive, warm, giving and caring group of truly empathetic people. I'm sure you will feel right at home before you know it.

Robin - I do have to say I sometimes feel just like that cat in your avatar!!

My family is good for support too on the surface but I think they try and sabotage it - i get more invites over for dinner etc....Losing weight is a very solitary act but it is also very important to distance yourself away from the negative people - even if it is family or friends, cuz they can cause so much havoc in your efforts.
