Finding motivation...

My motivation has been waning the past several days. I've been staying on plan, but just going through the motions. It didn't help that I'd kept gaining and losing the same 0.6 pounds for almost a week.

Today I woke up and was down 2.8 pounds! I'm sure that I'll be up a little tomorrow because a loss that big never sticks with me. I got motivated to go into my box of "thinner clothes" (still size HUGE but stuff I haven't fit in for a good long time) and tried on a bunch of stuff. In 23 pounds lost, I've gone down 2 sizes! I was amazed that so much stuff fit me! Now I'm realizing that I can probably wear all the pants, but the shirts have got.to.go. Talk about out of style! It's been awhile size I was this size. :o

Just had to share. It really reminded me why it's important to stick with my plan, even if I have to just go through the motions to do it. My motivation has increased quite a bit today!

Going through the motions is also called "commitment".

If I would leave eating well and exercising to my motivation, I'd be no where, well I'd be some where - but not sitting here at my goal weight.

I agree - commitment. Motivation? It's fleeting. It peaks and wanes and isn't enough to get the job done. It is indeed that commitment that is required.

Sometimes we just have to make the intelligent, reasonable, mature decision "and do it even if we don't feel like it". We do it in all other areas of our life - education, work, marriage, freindships, personal hygiene, maintaining a clean and functioning household, finances, parenting - our food intake is no different.
