Almost every day I have yogurt with some kind of fruit in the morning, salad for lunch and veggies and hummus in the afternoon. But, because I change the components all the time, it always seems different to me. For example, with the salad: I have a big container I always put it in, and I fill it with some kind of greens - spring mix, spinach, rocket, a combination, basically whatever I have - and then start adding things from my fridge.
I find that cutting vegetables and fruit up in advance helps me - if I slice a cucumber, I can bring it for a snack or throw it in my salad, if I wash and slice strawberries, I'll be more likely to use them. I really agree with everyone who says they plan ahead, and those who advocate having a rotation of meals. I find that when I have a few recipes I'm always comfortable with, it really makes me feel like I have a grasp on what I'm eating. The other thing that I'm not sure anyone has mentioned is making a large batch of something and using it throughout the week. I make turkey chili, for example, put some in my fridge and some in my freezer. Then I have it that week a few times and I have it to pull out when I'm feeling overwhelmed and need to not think about what to eat. |
Just make a plan out for yourself, put it on your fridge and follow it. Be mentally flexible enough that if you want to change something you can.
I rotate through the same foods pretty much all the time. As long as you don't get bored just eat the stuff you know is good for your plan. |
