Yeah I know I am going to buy some nuts and seeds and add them with my fruit and salads.

Nuts are good fats right? any particular nuts? Not a major fan of almonds either.

walnuts, pecans are good cashews aren't that great for you i'm not too much of a nut person i like almonds the best i chop em up and put em in chicken salad or just eat em plain but they are raw unsalted kind. Don't get the fried salty kind always get raw if you can and unsalted is best. Nuts are ok but don't eat too many just a tiny handful a day should be good like not even a handful maybe half a handful or 1/4 cup, you dont have to have them everyday if you are having other sources of good fats mix it up. If you want seeds chia is the best flax is good also, pumpkin seeds are real good for you too i guess but again dont eat too many. All of them are ok I guess just don't eat too many :D

Olive oil is good fat also, or fish oil, flax seed oil, you don't have to have nuts everyday or anything.

if you get flax seed get the ground kind your body can absorb them better if they are ground unless you would want to grind them yourself

and don't forget there is already fats in meat and fish so you don't have to have that much other fats if you eat some more meat or eggs

Think I am going to use this thread as my personal blog to blog what I eat and what I do for day to day. I don't mind people giving me feed back, already changed my diet from a couple of people's advice here. Starting to have a bit more protein and drink alot more water.

So today had a chicken sandwich and some salad leaves for breakfast did my interval training (40mins, played football (Soccer) for another 20mins). Then finished off my sandwich and remaining salad.

Came back home and did some weight training. Worked my arms, legs and stomach. 3 reps for 12. So 36 times.

My question is
. Last few days I have been doing stomach crunches but I don't feel the burn compare to when I first started doing them. Do I need to do more? I do 12, 3 reps.

I Do the straight forward, up and down. Then do the side to sides. I also use a 2.5kg weight but I don't feel the pain afterwards? Why is that?

Sounds like you're getting stronger! I suggest you ask that question on the exercise forum -- you'll get some very wise responses there from experienced strength trainers. I'm guessing, more from a lot of reading than experience, is that they will say to do more reps. And, if you're doing them every day, they're going to suggest that you take a rest day in between.

Ooo, I agree, it DOES sound like you're getting stronger! Keep it up, and I'll bet you'll see the muscle start to pack on! :D

Something you might want to do in your down time is research food itself. I started doing that through my interest in cooking and reading through food blogs, which led me to look up information that many ppl had posted on their blogs. It's amazing what I have learned for myself, and I truly believe it's helped me to make better choices for myself, like finding non-dairy sources for calcium (I'm lactose intolerant, and it triggers my acid reflux). I subscribe to alot of food blogs for vegetarians and vegans, even though I'm not one at all, because they have interesting recipes and ideas on how to cook veggies and healthy meals. I'm not saying I take what anyone says as gospel, I look it up and do research, and that has benefited me more than anything! Well, the delicious recipes have also been great, lol!

Just an idea I thought I'd throw out there. :)

Just a quick update and to blog my progress.

Been keeping up with healthy eating and have cut down on bad foods, started doing more weights and when I am watching TV I move around, dance around, light jog to keep active and burn some calories. OK I maybe burning 10 calories within those 30mins but it all adds up.

I have also cut my "treat myself day" to just one day a week rather then two.

I still have rice as carbs tho but this is ok isn't it so long as you don't go over board?

My question for this week is yesterday was my "treat myself day" - Now I don't go over board and go chocolate, chips or whatever that would be stupid. I did however have a curry.

It was a seafood curry of prawns, muscles, squid. With Onions, carrots and peppers over a jar of curry sauce. The sauce base was about 298 calories I think. So I am guessing 700 calorie dish. I had it with rice.

Now do prawns, muscles, squid count as protein? Or are they high in carbs?

Do they contain high of cholesterol?

Perhaps this site will help you:

http://nutritiondata.self.com/

It's got some preloaded recipes on it, plus the recipes from a million restaurants (usually mainstream ones, though). You can also add in ingredients to get a nutritional analysis. It's pretty helpful, for me at least.:)

Fat Boy Wants 2 Slim 07-30-2010 08:22 AM

These sites you guys give me are so useful I love reading them.

But I am not sure whether these calculation are right?

Code:

Your Calories Burned

Daily Energy Expenditure:          3116 kcal        ( 13046 kJ)
Additional Calories from Exercise:          + 1247.0 kcal        ( 5221 kJ)
Estimated Energy Requirement:          4363.0 kcal        ( 18267 kJ)

I mean I do not think I burn 3116kcal a day? That seems an awful lot? :D

I probably expect half of that to be honest?

I know it can be a touchy thing sometimes, but your stats would be a bit helpful for us to help a bit more. You are dealing with current and past fat chicks here. No need to be shy. Throw those numbers out there, and brag about the progress when they change. If you dont want, its fine, but it would make some of the figuring easier for us.

As for the rice...This all depends on what you like and dont like and what YOU can deal with leaving out. I am NOT a carb counter. Not only would I miss carbs horribly, but I tried low carb once, and felt absolutely terrible. Carbs are not "bad". But many people go very low carb and do quite nicely on it. Now, white rice is certainly not the best carb you can eat. I love white rice, and I have it often. But while in the past I would do a veggie stir fry,and have it with a cup of rice, Now, I have 1/2 cup of the rice, and pile on the veggies in the stir fry. I get just as much food, I still get my white rice carb fix, but most of the meal is veggies, and I dont feel I have sacrificed anything. If you like brown rice, it will ALWAYS be better than the white stuff. So, go that route if you can. I am not a fan of the nutty flavor of brown rice, but many do enjoy it.

On a side note..my favorite breakfast is 1 serving of oatmeal ( regular old quaker oats, not the instant loaded with sugar instant packages) and a banana. 260 calories..you get your fiber, good potassium, and just all natural wholesomeness. But I am a huge oatmeal fan, and will always recommend it to anyone.

good luck and keep up the good work.

Fat Boy Wants 2 Slim 07-30-2010 11:43 AM

My stats?

I haven't weight myself recently because I don't have scales but last time I weighed was 18 stone. 5'9/5'10

I do jogging/walking pretty much 3/4 times a week. Weights 3/4 times a week.

going2bskinny 07-30-2010 12:35 PM

I'm using this site right now to count my calories livestrong.com/myplate it is helping a lot. And then if I have a cheat meal I will just work it into my calories for the day so that I still won't go over. The exercise part of that site is totally not accurate so I don't even bother with that part I just keep my calories low for the day and just workout as much as I can. I don't really go nuts trying to figure out what I burned on top of it. I would get a body bugg if I could afford it but the monthly fees on top of buying one kind of turned me off. If you had more money though maybe you would want one of those or a Go Wear Fit.

Also as for rice switch from white rice to brown rice and it should be ok.

Fat Boy Wants 2 Slim 08-04-2010 10:51 AM

So I got myself a scale to keep track of how I am going. Pretty sure last time I weighed myself I was 18 stone, 256Ilbs. Now I weighed myself yesterday and I am 17stone 238Ilbs. I checked on my friends scales and a stores scales and yep. 238Ilbs. Could it be I lost 18Ilbs? in 1 and half week?

Last night must confess had a really poor effect on my calories, diet. Had a large rice, pork chops meal, sausages, lamb and chips. Then some fries. I did have a salad sandwich for breakfast tho and a box of fruit. But I felt the carbs.

Today again, a beef sandwhich. 568cals, fishfingers 200cals and now I am munching on nuts.

I should be back jogging running tomorrow after a week of not much exercise due to me exhausting myself last week and my knees going.
