When I first began my weight loss journey - this is what I did - I had a cut off time and than it was KITCHEN CLOSED. I was not allowed in there. Period. I had to get my night time munchies (well, my daytime ones too - but that's another thread) under control. I didn't leave the door open, it was NOT an option to eat at night. If you don't start eating, than you cant OVEReat. After a rough bunch of nights - nighttime munchies - gone.

A few months down the road, I felt it was *safe* to add in some planned foods and all is well!

Habit. Soooo much of this is breaking bad habits. And they are breakable. They really are.

In the beginning, I would have dinner at 8 pm and then go to bed at 9 pm. Now that I am used to not grazing at night, I can eat at 7 pm and go to bed at 11 pm.

I also don't keep any bingey foods in my house. I can't be trusted with them & I have proven that to myself 1,000 times. I admit that this rule is easy for me because I am single & have no kids. The pantry is all mine.

while reading this thread, I just indulged in a hand full of fresh cherries... so delicious!

The thing is, I really hate to go to bed hungry. I want to sleep, and not listen to my tummy rumbling... :P

so, yes, I also vote for incorporating a small snack :)

Can you eat dinner later in the day then? 6pm is awfully early to be saying "nope, nothing more until tomorrow", considering you're going to be up for another 5 hours as well. When I know I'm going to be up late, I split my dinner into two portions and have the second half later in the evening.
