Default So, I'm a bridesmaid.

A friend of mine is getting married in a month, and she has asked me and my bestie to be bridesmaids (very last minute). I said yes, but my best friend (who is now, after my weight loss, quite a bit larger than me) said no. She was afraid of not fitting into the bridesmaid dress. The dress is above the knee in length and strapless. It's definitely made for a thinner girl.

I feel really bad for doing this when my friend cannot, but I think that I can pull off this look now.

The only thing that has me worried is her three other bridesmaids are all stick thin and model-gorgeous.. I don't want to be remembered as the fat bridesmaid. I'd love some words of encouragement to help me feel better about this decision.

My daughter-in-law-to-be has bridesmaids of various sizes. She chose a store, a brand and a length. M is wearing a halter, L is wearing strapless ... and so on.

OTOH ... your bride friend has chosen people she loves to be with her on her special day. She loves you and wants you to be there with her. Hug her and tell her you want straps!

Remember, she asked you because you are her friend. You said that you feel you can go, so go for it!

I was the matron-of-honour at my sister's wedding a couple of years ago, and I was fairly upset at not being able to find the dress she wanted us to wear in my size. Finding my own wedding dress eight years ago had me coming home crying more than once. The world of nice dresses is not easy on heavier women.

I ended up ordering a dress from a store online, and I looked just fine. The day was fun, everyone had a good time, I didn't feel like the fat bridesmaid, and it turned out to not be a big deal at all. Like everyone else has said, this is about sharing a special day with friends and family. You're going to look smashing!

The bride wants you there by her side. She is not thinking about dress sizes or anything like that, just wanting the most important people with her. Plus I bet that she does not see you as fat most friends (true friends) do not see that sort of stuff.
