  • We're doing an office drinks night and I'm allowing myself 1 accounted for drink. My favorite is usually super sweet girlie martini's, but I know I can do better considering that kind of drink will probably run me about 300cals. What are your favorite suggestions? I'll take all suggestions (just to help out others) but I don't like rum, so your standard diet rum and coke is a no go for me. Vodka is my go to preference, but like I said something sweet. I was thinking I could probably do a vodka tonic for about 150 cals, but that doesn't sound too appealing. And of course the best choice would be to go and just enjoy the company and get a diet soda, but we're going to celebrate one of my accomplishments so I'll feel slightly odd if I do that, I know I know, who cares. So anyway, suggestions?
  • Do you like wine? One glass of red wine is usually around 125 calories or so. At least that is what my iphone calorie counter says
  • I would think that if you really don't drink that often, you might just get what you really like. I mean, it's useless calories regardless of what you have, might as well have something that you really enjoy and then will feel more satisfied after. I'd work the 300 calories into you day.

What's the point of having something you don't enjoy?
  • Even a vodka and cranberry isn't too bad, wine spritzer, shandy, skinny margarita

    Have fun! and congrats!
  • Stoli orange or Absolut Citron with club soda and a twist of lime. Not real sweet I guess, but it's got a nice hint of flavor, light for the summer, and relatively low cal.

I love gin & diet tonic but I don't think bars carry diet tonic. Thank goodness my supermarket does!
  • I'm a light beer drinker myself, but apparently you don't like beer?

  • I second the wine suggestion. I had wine on my anniversary and it was a special treat and I felt okay with it cuz it only was like 100 calories.
  • My go to monthly girls night out drink is also red wine. I allow myself 2 glasses and I enjoy every bit of it!
  • Tips: Infused vodkas like raspberry, peach, etc., sugar substitutes like agave, diluting with plain or flavored carbonated water, diet & lite juice mixers, and lemon & lime.

    Examples:
Cosmopolitan Martini - with diet cranberry and agave
    http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/od/bev...wcarbcosmo.htm - 105 cal. recipe

    Infused Vodka Spritzer

Infused Screwdriver - Infused vodka with lite orange juice (diluted with carbonated water for even lower calories)

    Red Wine

    White Wine Spritzer

    Skinny Girl Margarita

    Have fun
  • seltzer with lime = 0 calories. Looks like a mixed drink but isn't.

I don't see any reason to drink just because others are.
  • It's more of an at home drink than a bar drink because of availability, but I've been enjoying making a quick sangria out of my occasional glass of red wine by putting it over ice and adding fresca (another diet soda like sprite or squirt would work too). So, not particularly helpful for your situation, but wanted to mention it in case others were looking for summer drinks. Good luck on your night out!
  • If you don't feel awkward doing this, it is an awesome solution:

Buy those single serve crystal light "on the go" packages. Order a vodka and water, empty flavor of choice into the drink and stir. You can add more or less flavor for the level of sweetness you want.

The packets are 10 calories, but you'll probably only need half of one or less. So with 70 calories of Vodka, your whole drink will only be 75-80 calories.
  • Almost all bars will have vanilla vodka and diet coke - tasty, the only cals are from the vodka, and it's sweet.
  • i love vodka with water and either cranberry juice or lime... yum!
  • Since it's your celebration and other people are paying, I'd probably have a good glass of wine.

Vodka and cranberry is quite tasty.

Or a wine spritzer. Refreshing, low cal and low alcohol.

I do Jack Daniels and Diet Coke sometimes, but you'd have to like bourbon to enjoy it.

And if you aren't in the mood to drink, there is no reason that you have to. It's your celebration after all.
