Sorry another happy post :)
So today I wanted to eat Chipotle so bad. For those of you who dont know what it is, its a organicish mexican place with massive burritos, salads and burrito bowls (burrito minus tortilla). I went onto the website to see how much the burrito or the burrito bowl i used to eat was. 1000 calories?????? OMG i almost died. The bowl had 220 less, but still after I saw that I ddnt want it. :) I dunno what happened to my way of thinking but i totally think about food differently. So I went to subway and had a salad for 230 calories vs 1000. So proud of myself. I rewarded myself with a bag of baked bbq chips 70 calories for half the bag and thats all I ate. the other half is for my snack later on :) :carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot:

That's awesome. It amazes me to find out what the actual calories are for restaurant food.
Good for you!! |
Good for you :D

Good for you!
I went to Mo's today for lunch. (Chipolte is right across the street. Moe's is very similar) and I made sure I got the salad but hold the bowl and the chips. Dressing on the side, which I didn't eat half of, and no guac or sourcream. Based on their site, that is about 500-550 cals. More than I should have had, but I'll make it up at dinner tonight with just a salad. |
Thanks ladies :)

I actually love Chipotle. I have it often enough that I just have "Chipotle Meal" entered in my on-line calorie tracker. I get the fajita bowl with steak, corn and tomato salsa, lettuce for some bulk, and I even get guacamole. No cheese. No sour cream if I get the guac. It's like 565 calories and makes a totally reasonable lunch or dinner. And it's DELICIOUS!

I just find it easier for me to stay away from places If i cant eat what I want. Right now since im just starting i kind of have to. Plus i try not to make my lunch 500 calories. but i know eventually ill want to go and ill leave out the cheese and sc

Good for you for resisting! :cheer2:
I love chipotle... But as I'm a picky eater, when I get a bowl it's actually less than 550 calories. Rice, barbacoa, fajita veggies, a little bit of hot salsa, lettuce, and cheese. I don't like things like beans, sour cream, or guacamole, so that's never been a problem for me. :) |
I absolutely adore Chipotle and it is one of my frequent eating spots.
I used to go to Qdoba a lot (which is nearly exactly like Chipotle - before I knew about Chipotles) when I was heavy. My choice - loaded nachos. Chili, ground beef, cheese, guac, sour cream - the works. I thought I loved it. I love what I order at Chipotle now. Just skipping the tortilla makes it so easy to get a reasonable portion. I get the chicken bol (no beans). I ask for extra pico, extra romaine. I get some of the extra hot sauce on the side and I split a side order of guac with my husband. It is DELICIOUS and about 500 calories (depending on how much guac I eat). (I don't get cheese/sour cream because lately too much dairy messes me up) I don't feel deprived, and I don't feel like I made a second class choice! Chipotle, Panera and Subway are pretty much the only "fast food" I eat - it's not to have a few choices, not just Subway. |
Great job resisting! I love Chipotle, there's one less than a mile from my office. I know how much fat/calories are in the food, so I, like you stay away from it. It's nice to have in a healthy way (as the other ladies have mentioned) every once in awhile.
CONGRATS!! |
Another fan here, but I eat 1/3 of the bowl. ;) No sour cream or guac for me either, and light on the cheese.

Good Job on keeping on plan. It's not always easy.

Girl, u r STRONG!!!! I love Chipotle and everytime I go to the city I have to get me a Barbacoa salad with corn salsa, cheese, guacamole and sour cream. It's my one splurge when I go there once every three months.lol. Keep up the hard work!

I get half rice, black beans, barbacoa, and double the green salsa. Under 500 calories and it really is a lot of food. It's my emergency meal for when I get stuck out in the evening and didn't know I needed to pack an extra meal.

Calorie counting has SO many benefits and I think it surfaced for you in this instance.
Once we start counting our calories, we become more aware and we become pickier and choosier. Eating anything without giving it thought will no longer suffice. Now that we've only got a certain limited amount of calories, a calorie budget that is, we have to weigh and decide if so and so is really worth spending the cals. It's a wonderful thing. You instantly start making wiser choices. And you did. You did! For me it's much easier to pass up on a certain high calorie food item as long as I know I've got something else delicious and yummy to eat though calorie friendly. This does take a while till you FIND those other foods. And again, that's what calorie counting forces you to do. Find them, seek them out and even create them. What a wonderful learning experience this journey is. Keep up the great work. I look forward to reading many more of your upcoming happy posts. :) |
very true rockinrobin. i never used to do this. i would just eat it. now before i eat anything i make sure its within my calorie budget. im also becoming very good with eating only one of something. like pizza. if i cant avoid it which i can i would just have 1 piece. before i would eat like half the pizza.
