It seems to only be the trainers who ask. I think Im doing fine. Yes it may take me a year instead of 6 months with them making me push my body but I cant see paying someone $30+ an hour to force me to do something.

I do think I should lower my calories a little but im waiting to see what works. Each week i trial and error. I did great on 1500 now im trying 1300 mon thr thurs and 1500 on fri sat and sun

I am wondering if 1500 was working for you and you "did great", why are you changing it around now?

Thanks. As far as dropping my calories the dr suggested maybe i do 1200 mon thru thurs and 1500 the rest, but i dont know if i can do it. Im already at 940 for the day and ive done really good. But for dinner i need more than 220. So i may stick with 1500 and then maybe 1600 or 1700 on sat and sun

Doctors often do not seem to really understand what it is like to be very big: when I was 300, I would try to do 1200 and it was impossible. I was cranky, tired, and had no attention span. It was like the worst PMS possible. There's no way to live like that. Please, if you do better at 1500-1800, eat at that level and don't feel a shred of guilt about what you "should" be eating. At 275, that's fine. That's healthy.

And 30 minutes of walking is way, way better than I could do when I started. You should be proud. When I started, five minutes was my max and I moved it up in 2-3 minute increments over months before I even got to 30 minutes (I remember being amazed the first time I was on the bike for more that a full sit-com, without commercials--22 minutes!). So screw that guy. He doesn't know what he's talking about.

That's not right what the trainer said to you.

I just fired my personal trainer because I had some concerns about him, and he was not supportive of a decision I made. I think a lot of trainers are over confident.

I am looking forward to working with another trainer in the future.

It's really great that I found this thread because I really enjoyed reading everyone's encouragement and words of experience. I've been feeling pretty bummed that I could only do 30 minutes on my elliptical at one time because I've always read or been told that if it's not at least 45 minutes then I'm wasting my time. A guy friend I vented to about this who does training told me that yeah, sure 45 minutes a day is great WHEN you get to that point in your journey, but at our weights anything is better than nothing. I think you're doing fantastic! :)

As the Jack Daniel's commercial once said " Once your find something you love never leg go." I've known plenty of people who lost weight by just walking!!! I'm jealous but of course they had a bit more weight to lose, than I do.

If it weren't for the free gym membership, for my weight training I'd volunteer at the stables. Not only do I get my workout but also a perk brushing up on my riding lessons.

I joined the gym yesterday. I love the classes they offer. Before i was this heavy i loved the cycle classes. I would do them almost every day when i could and i weighed 220. i want to go back to it. I decided not to hire the trainer.

Most of them do act way to cocky. They dont understand what its like to be obese. a lot of them say oh i was this weight and i worked out. well maybe you were but everyone is different and im not going to hurt myself to lose the weight then something happen and i cnt work out at all
