So a total of 480 calories + 4 mile run to make up for Saturday night?
Please be careful of subjecting your body to extreme cycles - remember, this is meant to be a journey towards health, above all. Binging (and subsequent purge - excessive exercise or starvation-level calories) leads to self-hatred and "punishment" activities. When it comes to weight loss, extremes don't balance each other out. That's math theory - not reality :) |
I've had off plan days that have taken up to a week to get rid of, even with drinking a lot more water than normal and decreasing sodium. It happens, really, its not "true" weight.
You just can't freak out about little fluctuations. TOM, salt, increasing exercise can all drive your weight up. Its normal and you just can't eat 480 calories each time you have an "up" day |
My body tends to react to what I eat only after two days have passed, which really confused me at first. What, I binged on pizza and lost weight? Well golly! But then I had veggies and good stuff, and gained 3 lbs! Gah!
I try not to let it bother me anymore. The body will be fickle. Such is life. |

But its SO true. For all our knowledge, we still don't know everything about weight and weight gain. I fluctuate a good 3-4 pounds regularly. I'm building muscle and stamina with the C25K and that's just the way it goes. For the last week, I've seen my scale read 185 twice now, but also 188 at least twice and 187 at least once.. What's the "real" weight? I always weigh buck nekked, after using the restroom, and before eating. What causes the differences? Water weight? I pooed less? The level of humidity in the air? Who cares, as long as my overall trend is down. And it is and has been for 4 months. Freaking out over a half pound is just silly. Don't sweat it, seriously. You're doing great! Everyone has the occasional off day, don't let it freak you out! Just get back in control and move on. |

There is so much fear on 3FC about the dreaded starvation mode monster and it just feeds the insanity. If you're not hungry don't eat. The healthiest I have ever been was when I listened to my body. Some days that meant I ate 400 calories, others 3000. I ate when I was hungry, not when I wasn't. I never had a weight problem until I stopped listening to my body and now I'm having to retrain myself to hear and pay attention to it. Being in tune with your body is a beautiful thing, don't ever let some silly number trump it. Ever. As for the weight gain, it happens. Stay on track and weigh again in a few days. You'll get there. |
Don't panic!! Your body is just freaking out because you starved and overworked it that day. Eat some healthy foods, drink LOTS of water and I'm sure it'll come off. You couldn't have gained real weight by eating nothing.
