  • Seriously...my parents must have picked me off the stupid tree!

Haven't thought about fast food in forever....then yesterday I post on a thread here about fast food....

I mention that one time del Taco did bad things to me

I haven't been there in forever....live within 1 mile of one....

Went shopping for Memorial Day week-end bbq stuff....have a ton of good food at home....

    So what do I do?

I pull into del taco...get 4 small tacos, 2 beef burritos and a cheese quesadilla...

at least I threw 1 burrito...2 tacos out....

feeling really freakin' dumb right now....

I've never been the brightest domino in the deck but I do have more cents than this!
  • that's okay, I don't understand half the stupid things i do with food sometimes......sitting there at night thinking, mmmm popcorn. Not really hungry. so what do I do?

    go get the popcorn.
  • You're not stupid, you're human. Don't be so hard on yourself
  • Don't be hard on yourself, EZ, you're definitely not stupid. We all slip in poo sometimes.
  • Thanks Gals!

seriously, I am not taking this little setback too serious!

I have already made a nice healthy salad for dinner that Angie and I will have when she gets home from teaching yoga at church.

It just blows me away that "we" get thoughts in our head...

del taco - del taco - del taco....

and act on them EVEN when we know we REALLY don't want to give in...

but I made the choice...I did....

I also had the thought in my head of a nice roasted turkey sandwich on whole wheat or sourdough with lettuce/tomato and some healthy chicken/vegetable soup.....

which I love and had at home....

    Nah...we aren't stupid...

but we sure do stupid things sometimes don't we kids?

    Be Good!
  • Funny how the human brain works sometimes
  • maybe your body was craving some good old grade D beef.
  • Quote: Funny how the human brain works sometimes
Family members are always saying that about me

Quote: maybe your body was craving some good old grade D beef.
Way to bring up my past kiddo
  • Its okay Gary give yourself credit for the stuff you threw away !

fyi....... I'm dying for a big cheeseburger ... hmmm .. I wonder where I got that idea ... I think I read about it on here somewhere....
  • It happens to the best of us. I can give up all kinds of sweets and candies and not blink an eye about it but for some reason ice cream is the one thing that I miss and sometimes crave. It's so strange!

    Dhani
  • maybe you stumbled up on a subliminal message.

I'd never have to eat ice cream or candy again...as long as I could have my chips!

Quote: maybe you stumbled up on a subliminal message.
    nothing much subliminal about me
  • No, there's nothing subliminal about you, Gary!

Buddy, you just decided you were going to do what you were going to do and to heck with it all. And you didn't even hold back on your order. "By gosh I'm a grown man and I can do what I want!!!"

So sorry to say, you don't get any credit for tossing 2 tacos and 1 burrito--not from me! Because it means you ate 2 tacos, 1 burrito, and 1 quesadilla. Not exactly your 500 calorie lunch, eh? All these other gals will say nice things to make you feel better, but not this chick! But you knew that.

It's scary, isn't it, knowing you can do that at any old time. Flip of the switch and you're at the takeout window. Scary. And I have that same possibility, always waiting for the opportunity... a weak moment that I can turn into "I deserve it!" Yeah, I can BS myself with the best of 'em.... So, just know, you're not alone, Gary

    Jay
  • my subliminal message---->Gary, stay away from Del Taco.

Did you catch it? you might have to read the thread backwards though...
  • Hey JAY it is actually worse than what I posted

To be honest It is true what I ordered and true what I ate... BUT... I didn't throw the leftovers away...

Well....I did....but then I got the bag out of the trash almost instantly and put them in the fridge....

I played the " hummm....I know I shouldn't have it ~ know it's not good for me ~ hate to waste food ~ maybe I'll eat just the burrito for lunch tomorrow....that won't be so bad....GAME...in my head.

    Gets even worse!

I made a salad...a very nice healthy salad for dinner. Angie gets home from teaching yoga, I was watching the ballgame so I called up to her..."Dinner is in the fridge Babe...I'll be up in a minute"....

She calls down to me "Dinner is del taco?'.....

"No....the salad on the bottom shelf....I went to del taco for lunch"

    "Why?"....

I didn't bother to answer until later.....

At dinner I told her how I got hungry for it, the thread, etc....and did she remember when I went a few years back when she was gone..and the issues with #2

    She did....

WELLLLLLLLL......this morning at 1:30 my tummy is very ....I run down to my bathroom and explode and I mean

I get back into bed...Angie rolls over and says..."Where did yo go?"

    "del taco"

"Ohhh".....and pats me on the leg....

Maybe a little too TMI but I think we have all been there.

    You are so right JAY!

One thing I remember from Smokenders years ago was the one puff away from a pack a day saying....

I failed that one many times until I didn't fail almost 13 years ago!

We are works in progress...all of us....

We all fail but boy when we don't it's wonderful!

Well Jay....going back to work on my 2 beers a day plan
