What a great thread.
Fast food is a big weakness for me. I have to not go to those places at all. Subway is the only place that I go to now. With that said, I had some chocolate covered peanuts last night and let me tell ya, while the first few were really tasty, they lost their appeal really quick. By the time I was finished, I felt as though I had a rock sitting in my stomach. Personally, I am glad that my body kind of regects the junk. I hope it continues. I use it as a good reminder, in addition to any old pictures of myself, of why I am changing my life in this way. |
Gnocchi,
You asked if my husband supports my weight loss ...he does in some ways, but when he wants a certain fast food he goes and gets it, whether I partake or not. I have never been able to influence him to eat healthily, even though he has heart disease abnd diabetes. Over many years, I gave up nagging about his diet. Unfortunately, I gave in last weekend and went along with the fast food. From now on, I will remember how I felt after eating that greasy food and tell him none for me (which I have done for most of the last year). |
I find if I don't eat cow for a long time and then try to eat beef, sometimes things are a little rough.
I can't handle fried foods. Well - I should say it is a crap shoot. Some times after eating friend foods, I get what I call "fried food" tummy. It doesn't happen all the time, but it is DEFINITELY b/c of fried or greasy foods. It is this very specific naseous feeling, but I know I am not going to throw up. It is sorta a crampy feeling - but not really (if that makes sense). Basically, if I eat it at dinner, I wake up in the middle of the night and lay there praying for death. I did some reading and could only come up with the fact that grease is hard for our bodies to digest. I read somewhere that suggested wine or beer with a greasy meal (beer and wings? wine and calamari?) or bread to help sop up the grease. |
It depends on the food, but since starting to eat healthier, I have had a few things upset my stomach.
Cglasscock1-Do you still have your gallbladder? That may be part of the problem. Good luck to you! |
I don't eat a lot of fast food - if I do, I'm more inclined to go with a veggie sub from Subway than a McD's burger or whatever.
Oh, but a Hardee's breakfast? Yeah, THAT could put me off the deep end. Especially their gravy & biscuit! OMG... I'm kinda GLAD our Hardee's closed down & is gone now... |
I don't eat fast food because I just really don't like it--I'd rather have local restaurant fare. Usually the stuff I do choose to eat from local restaurants sits OK with me, but I do find that burritos from the taqueria across the street make me feel really sick if I eat too much. I think I can handle eating 1/3 to 1/2 of one, but of course...I don't want to just eat half, since they're delicious!
I think what helps me not feel sick after eating at restaurants is that there is certain stuff that I just DO NOT eat at all--for example, French fries, the bread basket, dessert. So I'm eating less overall and I'm not eating particular things that are very problematic for me. |
I still pray there will be a day when fast food will make me feel nauseous and ill.
I pray the day comes sooner rather than later! |
fast food... *pukes*
I'd rather go days without eating than eat at a fast food place >.< I wouldn't even buy bottled water there! (not that I drink bottled water!) |
I personally have a weakness for Wendy's chicken nuggets. I find them tasty and wonderful.. .And it doesn't hurt that they're dirt cheap! ;)
Not sure how I do with fast food at this point, though, as the closest thing I've had to it in the last month is Chipotle, and one time I went out with my mom to pizza. Sure, I've gone to restaraunts since I started... But as far as fast food goes, I've managed to steer clear. I can say from past experiences, though, that I don't think I've ever had an adverse reaction to fast food while dieting... Guess I'm just not one of those people! |
Annie Drews,
Yes, I do have my gall bladder. Hope it doesn't go out on me! |
