So proud of DH!

  • So my DH has put on quite a bit of weight. Not sure how much because he won't tell me(I remember a thread asking people if their DH or SO knew what they weighed, and it made me laugh because I have the opposite issue). Anyway, it got to the point where he had to buy new pants in a 42, which as I know very well is upsetting, but it still didn't seem to get him going. I know from my own experiences and from reading everything here that you have to be ready on the inside - no external influence can make you ready.

DH had always compained that he didn't think our scale was accurate - he swore his weight would fluctuate 5 lbs. within seconds for him. Didn't for me - I think he just moves around too much. Anyway, I bought a new scale recently because I was losing weight so slowly I wanted one that weighed in .2 increments. I think he finally believes this one because he has made some serious changes. He's been bringing his lunch every day and making a real effort to eat more salads. He's cut way down on sweets and has been asking me to buy yogurt to eat after dinner instead. He's weighing himself regularly and is down 7 lbs. He even came out for a 3 mile walk with me the other night.

Just so proud I had to share. :-)
  • Us guys do have our good qualities!....wink
  • Natamars, good for DH! He is probably following your good example. Funny how people around us usually better their health when they witness our success!
  • That's great...not only will he be healthy and happier, but now you both will have a better support system.
  • Good for him! And lucky that he has you because you know the process. It really helps to have support from somebody who has been through it. And I definitely agree that a person has to be ready to do it themselves, not because anybody tells them to. It just clicks one day.
  • That is AWESOME!

My hubby is in pretty good shape (he's military) and I always use him as inspiration, but I just WISH I could get him to go for a walk with me or to exercise with me, lol. I actually think the stuff I'm doing right now (Insanity and P90x) is more intense than what he's doing. I am just curious to see how well he does, because I'm sure he could do a lot better than me.
  • I am sure your success and LACK of nagging have helped a lot. Good for him, and you too
  • Aw, how great! Congratulations to you BOTH!
  • Yaaay! That's really awesome...and now you have a lifestyle buddy too! Congrats to you both.

  • WTG DH!

The best give one can give to oneself and to the family is health.
