What kind of scale do you have?
What does it measure? Weight, body mass, hydration, etc?

I got a Taylor Biggest Loser scale that measures body fat and water. It's probably not all that accurate (I've read that most of these home scales aren't really capable of measuring body fat accurately) but I can see a trend downward so that is helpful to me, even if the exact percentage may not be correct. The water percentage doesn't seem to vary by more than .1 percent, so I'm not sure if that has any value at all.
The weight seems to be a lot more accurate than my old scale - that one would give me 5 different weights if I got on and off 5 different times, and they could vary by 3 or 4 lbs. I think my new one is programmed to give the same weight as long as it's within a few ounces of the last weight, but I've tried re-setting by either weighing myself carrying a heavy object or having my 5 year old weigh himself, and then if I get on again, it gives me the same weight as before. So that seems like it's more consistent anyway- again, I'm not as concerned with absolute accuracy as I am with seeing the consistency of the trend. hope that helps! |
I had an old fashioned scale that uses a needle. It is the most accurate and gives me the same weight each time. The digital ones gave me different weights if I got on and off. But I love my scales that arent electric at all. But i want to try others. I don't however, believe in the scales that give your body fat % and water and this and that. i find it hard to believe they work based on you just standing on them. But I have seen a scale that measures things if you put in height, weight, and body measurements. I think those may work. I want to try a new scale but scales seem to be more about gimmicks to me.

It's a little pricey at $85.00 (it was $75.00 when I bought it), but it is hands down the very best scale I have ever owned. It stores the reading of your last weigh in and shows it. It will store readings for up to five people. I never get a different reading, at all. For me it was also important that it accurately weigh over 300 lbs. It has a 440 capacity. |
I use my Wii Fit, I love it because it tracks my progress. At this point I just started weighing my pregnancy weight gain so by the time I have the baby and start on losing again I'll know how much I gained and such.

I have an old fashioned non-electric needle kind. It was hubby's when he was riding his bicycle 100's of miles a week. I keep thinking I would like to get a digital electric one, but unless this one breaks, I prolly won't spend the money. My clothes will tell me when I've lost a good amount of weight anyhow. I get really anxious each week, a day or so before weigh in. I dunno if everyone is like that, but I'm not sure I could stand to know right down to the ounces! EEK!!!

I have a metal-and-glass-with-a-needle behemoth that I have from college and I just got a Conair Weight Watcher's scale that I love. I like the old-school one because it seems to be a little more accurate but the WW one measures in pounds and ounces.

I have a Taylor Lithium scale that I'm not overly fond of. I'd like another one that I feel is more accurate but right now, I can't justify one.

I have a Taylor glass digital scale that I love. I was paranoid about accuracy but I think it's a winner.
