I think I'm going to abandon the scale for a while

I'm a daily weigher so for a while probably means a week. But it seems like I've been losing in spurts and the weeks with no loss are becoming more and more disapointing and having a big impact on my self esteem. It seems like the weight loss is corresponding with my cycle. Week 1 2-4lb loss Week 2 (ovulation) no loss Week 3 2-4 loss Week 4 (TOM) 1/2 lb gain or no loss. So I was thinking maybe I should just take a break from the scale. I'm doing well, I've got my binging under control, I'm on plan almost 100% of the time and I'm getting all my exercise in. I've also excepted that I will be doing this for life and that this is a lifestyle change for me, so I really don't need that dumb scale telling my that my hardwork isn't paying off. At least if I weigh once a week I'll only feel bad for a day if there is no loss instead of all week long. What do you think?

You are doing fantastic! Look at all the weight you have lost! Experiment and do what is best for you. I find weighing in twice a week is helpful to me.

Thanks, I think I'm just getting anxious. I'm really ready to be in maitenance mode and out of weight loss mode. I've been at this for 4 yrs and I'm ready to be done. I feel so close to my goal, but far away at the same time.

I'm a weekly weigh-er. I can't take the roller-coaster of weighing every day. I was thinking toward maintenance (which is a long way off for me) and wondering if I'll keep at once a week or go to twice a week.

I'd say give it a try for a couple of weeks and see if it helps your moods.

I look forward to Fridays because I know I'm going to see a loss (I've stayed OP so far). I am tempted to cheat and take a peek every now and then, but I don't. I've not had a gain yet...I've had tiny losses though, especially around TOM.

Try it for a couple weeks and see how you feel.

I only weigh once a week too. It's helped keep me from getting discouraged and I don't make as high of expectations for myself. I have an analog scale so I can't see the little, tiny changes (which I like because 199.8 and 199 are the same thing to me, I'm really not concerned with 1/10 of a pound), but I would just on everyday, and not see it really move at all. Which is normal, but in my mind, I want to see it move every time I step on the scale, so that is much more likely to happen if I only get on weekly.

I'm a daily weigher and it's been driving me nuts. Down 1 lb. up 1.5 lbs, I'm about to pull my hair out. My problem is that I have terrible patience and I like to see immediate results on the scale.

But as of late the everyday weigh in is getting rather old. I think I'm going to try to go down to twice a week, maybe Wednesday and Sunday. Hopefully those scale sessions will reflect a more normal weight loss number.
