How often do you weigh yourself?

I want to get on that scale every morning, but i'm afraid it might discourage me. What do you guys do? :p

I weigh every morning. Do what works for you but realize that you are probably not going to lose weight daily -- some days you might even gain. If that will discourage/frustrate you then stick with once or twice a week.

I weigh every morning and if I don't I gain weight. If my weight is lower then I am inspired to keep it off and if it is higher then I am inspired to get it off. I tend to gain weight if I don't watch it like a hawk.

I'm trying to get away from weighing daily but I just can't help myself. I've fortunately not become discouraged/frustrated with a day to day gain because I've been seeing losses consistently every Monday for the last 6 weeks, which I've deemed my "official weigh-in day". I've actually become pretty interested in seeing my weight day to day; our bodies do funny things. Best thing about this is that you have the choice to do what works for you.

I weigh every morning as well. It's very much a habit and if I don't I'm wondering about it for pretty much the rest of the day! I think its both good and bad - it keeps me accountable because I see the #s every morning, but it also makes me focus on the #s a lot more than I would if I weighed only once a week. I try really hard not to get discouraged if I see a gain because I know that weight fluctuates, but sometimes I still do. I just try to remind myself that the number on the scale shouldn't decide whether I have a good day or bad day.

I'm a daily weigher also. It's never been a problem for me... really. I mean I'll have bad days where even if I hadn't weighed I'd be in a bad mood, so I don't think it has anything to do with my scale. If you think it might affect your mood and such, maybe try every other day?

stargzr 02-18-2010 11:24 AM

grr, dunno why that double-posted

katybug12 02-18-2010 11:31 AM

I'm a weekly weigher. This early on, I am sure to lose at least a little bit, so it makes me feel good to never see a gain and always a loss! But I do not even go near the scale near my TOM, it would just hurt my feelings. lol

I weigh in every morning. If I don't weigh in I get very anxious and tend to overeat/gain weight. It helps keep me on track to see the number stay consistent/go down every day.

Mariella 02-18-2010 11:37 AM

I'm weighing daily for now also. It is keeping me focused and accountable.

Another daily weigher here, if I'm going wrong, I want to know about it as soon as possible.

During my losing stage I weighed in once a week. Like Katybug, I always knew I would have a loss because I was very faithful to my plan. It made Friday's very exciting. Once I reached maintenance i started weighing daily and oh golly, I have recently become obsessed with the scale. I hate it, I let it dictate my day, how much I can eat, wether I'm happy or sad...Oh what a night mare. During lent, I'm going back to once a week weighing. I now know how many calories I can eat to maintain...and I think it will force me into more consistent daily caloric amounts instead of the feast and famine mentality I've got myself into.

I'm nurotic, I know it, but I do morning and night. I like it and it helps me keep on track. I think it's whatever works for you. Some people are able to stay away from the scale and keep on track, but if I'm not on there every day I'll slip into denial and go the other direction.

I know the night thing is probably too much, but it helps keep me from overeating at night (BIG tendency for me) if I know I have to get on the scale one more time that day.

Mostly though, I think it's whatever works for you and makes you successful.

;)I weigh daily as well....but I am trying not to...because any increase can ruin my whole day. We put so much hard work in our dieting and to not see results is very depressing.

Crystalx5 02-18-2010 12:38 PM

I weigh in the buff every morning lol. Sometimes I weigh at night too, and I should say I always weigh myself twice in the morning- first time in the buff and the second time after I'm dressed to see how much my clothes weigh lol. I feel lost if I have not started my day out with my morning weigh-ins.
