Posting this for accountability!

Today I'm going out to lunch with a friend to our FAVORITE Japanese Steakhouse.

Typically I would order:
Hibachi Chicken (comes w/ rice, veggies, and salad or soup)
Vegetable Tempura (basically deep fried vegetables) with extra Teriyaki sauce
Extra rice with my meal
Extra Ginger dressing with my salad

Today I WILL order:

Salad w/ Ginger dressing (on the side)
Hibachi Chicken (with rice)
Extra vegetables

At lunch this particular restaurant doesn't give large portions so I won't be halfing my plate to take home. I didn't eat much yesterday so today I really need to reach and exceed my points but in a sensible way.

I'm going to eat a snack on my drive up there (half hour away) as well.
This is my favorite place to eat and I find it SO hard to resist temptation while I'm there. Today I will force myself to make good decisions!!

When I get home I'll update.

Thanks for reading!!

Sounds delicious! I'm sure you'll savor every bite!

Good luck! :) A couple words of caution, The veggies at these Japanese steakhouses are loaded with butter so I would ask them to use a little less. I almost died the last time I went and saw the HUGE blob of butter that was being cooked into my veggies right in front of me.

Good luck! I think you will do fine. I love that sort of food too. :)

Maybe i would be best off not asking for extra vegetables? They give you MAYBE 10 small pieces of onion and zucchini but you're right - huge blob of butter.
I wonder if they have a steamed veggie menu option. I'll have to check that out.

I admire your willpower for not taking the hibachi fried rice.

You can ask for steamed veggies at most of the places. They aren't cooked on the hibachi, but they'll usually still do it for you.

mmmm Hibatchi...

I think you are doing about what I would do, and if you do that it should be a pretty decent meal out. I am a tempura fan, but agree with skipping that

Oh my! I'm going out for Thai food with a girlfriend for lunch today. So, I totally feel you on this one!

At this Thai restaurant I'd normally order green curry with rice and chicken and eat it all! Today I'm going with either mixed veggies with chicken (no rice) or with lemon grass chicken. Portion control will be in full effect! We can do it!!!

Good for you for having a plan! I'm a newbie and this and learning from you ladies, how to handle going to restaurants.

I know you can stick with your plan!

Okay I think lunch was a success!
I ordered my salad dressing on the side but of course, they brought my salad loaded with it with another cup (extra) on the side...I declined the extra cup and sloughed off as much as I could from my salad.
I ended up ordering chicken and shrimp (4oz serving of each) and I ate half of each of those so 4 oz of protein. I DID get rice but I only ate 1/3 of it. I ordered extra veggies and they went easy on the butter for me.

I came home with 2 cups of food so that can be a snack or lunch tomorrow. YUM!

I'm really proud of myself.....and I bit my lip when the person next to me at the table (skinny minny) was chowing down on Tempura...with extra sauce.

Katy - good luck with your lunch!!

Apparently thinking ahead about what I'm going to eat whether here or at home REALLY helps my willpower. Must start doing that more often!!

Yessssss, it was a success for both of us then!! I ordered mix veggies with chicken and it came with a spring roll and rice, both of which I did not touch! I couldn't believe the control I had.

You're right, thinking about what you're going to eat ahead of time when eating out really really helps. Props for the willpower and to sticking OP! Go YOU!

Go YOU! I was hoping you'd do well. I have to say though, I'm not satisfied - I'm probably going to have to grab something to munch on here in a few because those leftovers are CALLING my name. Loudly.
