New Scale problems

  • I'm new here so I apologize if this isn't the right place to post but I need help!

I'm 6'7" and weighed in at the doctor last week at 380lb. I bought a scale today that 'weighs accurately up to 400lb!!'. My FOOT. It started weighing me at 369 and when I re-weighed it was lower. And then lower. And then even lower!
Now it's weighing me in at 209 pounds!! Am I doing something wrong? Has anybody experienced this?
  • I've had that happen when the battery was giving out. But hmmm, on a new scale that shouldn't happen unless it was on the shelf for a while.

I would look in the instructions and get the customer support phone number for the company that makes the scale. You may have gotten a dud!
  • My luck.

    Thank you

  • I had this problem with my scale as well. My weight was all over the place and always heavier than the doctor's scale. I ended up returning three scales before I settled for my Taylor digital scale. I love this one and find it very accurate. Is your scale manual or digital? It could be an uneven floor. You have to make sure you are using a level floor with no carpet underneath. If it rocks even slightly, the weight will be off. Make sure the scale is in the exact same place on the floor each time you weigh in as well. You can try weighing something you know the weight of, like a 10 pound bag of potatoes. See if it weights is accurately. There may be a reset switch somewhere in the back and you could also try a new battery. You may need to find another brand that works for you. I find not all scales are created equal
  • I had a scale with a dial reading that I would have to reset all the time. There was a little knob in the front I would have to adjust to 0 all the time. I would stand on the scale, get off, and suddenly it wasn`t 0, it was -3, so I`d have to reset it again before I did my next weigh-in. It was a real pain in the butt. If I wasn`t paying such close attention, I could have gotten really inaccurate weigh-ins. If I just never adjusted it, I have no doubt that it would have been off by 20lbs or more. I don`t know if that`s the case with yours.

I think other suggestions might be right, too. Low battery, uneven surface, dud... it depends what kind of scale you have. But being off by well over 100lbs is definitely messed up!
  • Sorry about your scale. This below is too funny though.

LOL, that's what I needed this morning to make me spit out my coffee, THANKS!
Last night I got on it again and it says I weigh 10 pounds. I can't find any ways to trouble shoot so I guess I'm going to have to take it back to Walmart and try again!

I appreciate the replies - at least I know I'm not the only one that's weighed 10 pounds before.

I did try off carpet and on even floors, FTR.
  • Oh man... now I want that scale. ``I know I`m fat, but my scale says I only weigh 10lbs, so suck it!``
