Am I ok or do I need to adjust? Had nasty cold

  • Started recording everything and staying around 1,600 calories 2 weeks ago. Found that I range between 1,400-1,600 Exercised lightly on WII Fit because I have had a cold.

I have only lost 4 lbs in 2 weeks and am wondering if I need to drop calories. I am 5' 7", 245 lbs and most things I find say calories should be higher than 1,600.

Does being sick mess up weight loss?

Should I give 1,600 more time?

This has been a bad winter, 4 colds, bronchitis and I am normally very healthy. Toxic office space! People come in sick rather than using vacation days.
  • I think 1600 with wii fit is a great ballpark. Remember that cough and cold meds usually have a ton of sugar in them so try getting sugar free meds.

I hope you feel better. SOme people use calorie cycling. Google it.
  • Only 4 pounds in two weeks? That's 2 pounds a week! That's Great! Get yourself better and stick to it! 1600 should be fine for you.

  • Thanks, that was fast!

Now, if you could cure cold sores you'd be my hero and you'd be wealthy!
  • 4 lbs in 2 weeks is excellent!

And with all the illness you have I would guess your activity level is a bit down.
  • 4 lbs in 2 weeks is really good. Why do you think it should be more? 1-2 lbs is what you should be shooting for.
  • Not over time but the first week at WW i would normally drop 3 and then a few more the next week. It seems slow because the first should be the biggest drop. My goal is 10 a month so I fear that it will slow down.

I have gained since the fall and have to see my mom in april. I don't need her so I would like to get it off so I can have a nice time! She's a beast. Not the feed you cookies and talk to you kind of mom. She is the eat salad, come for a walk but with a negative slant kind of mom.
  • My first weeks are never the big drop that everyone talks about. not unless I happened to stuff my self silly and weigh myself constipated the first weigh in.
  • I've had both my primary care doctor and a nutritionist tell me that you really don't want to lose more than 2 lb a week. So I'd say you're right on target!
