cutting sugar
Anyone have any great results cutting majority of sugar out of their diet? I've been keeping mine at around 25-35 grams a day mostly coming from apples/oranges, but too soon to notice a difference especially since im not completely sure how many grams i had prior to cutting processed sugar.

I cut all extra sugar out of my diet, the only sugar I am eating is what is in the food. I used to eat quite a bit of extra sugar before I cut it out, I am actually feeling better with no sugar. So far so good :)

I don't have any extra sugar either. My sugar comes from 1/2 a banana in the morning and some fruit in the afternoon if I feel peckish.
I avoid sweets and extra sugar all together, because if I allow myself a little I end up craving more. I get bad sugar lows when I crash off sweets. No need to cut out moderate fruit intake because the fiber slows down the spike in insulin I would otherwise get. I've never felt better and my energy is steady though out the day. |
I had great results as in no more cravings for sugary crap! That's something. And fruit tastes so much sweeter when you cut sugar from your diet.

I've gone on a high protein, low sugar and low fat diet. I don't have any added sugar just what is in the fruit I eat. I feel amazing. I am less hungry on less calories!

I have to stay far, far away from any refined sugar, granulated, powdered, brown, High fructose corn syrup, and regular corn syrup, honey, syrups jams and jellies, (you get the picture). The only "sugar" I eat comes from the 2-3 fruit servings I eat daily...under the best circumstances. Unfortunately the holidays always bring on a sugar binge or two, and it usually takes me an entire month to get my life back in control. It's scary how crappy a lot of sugar can make you feel after you have excluded it from you diet. It really is no wonder I felt like TOTAL CRAPPOLA every single day at 300+ pounds.
Maybe we should start a NO refined sugar Challange....I could sure use the extra push. |
I'm not sure I've noticed a difference in how I feel because I made so many other change in food and activity at the same time.
But it definitely helps me control the sweet tooth. Even two years later, I'm coming to prefer things less and less sweet. |
I have had great success eliminating refined sugars. Mainly the benefits for me have been a more even energy level throughout the day.

thanks guys!!

Trust me, the first time you eat something sugary after cutting sugars out of your diet, you will feel like crap. Headaches, stomach aches, nausea...you won't want to EVER eat sugar after that. Thank goodness for that! ;)

I have eliminated all added sugar and am staying away from artificial sweetners as well - can tell a big difference in my craving levels - almost all gone! Only been a week but I think it has made a huge difference

I too try to stay away from added sugar. One thing I noticed is my skin clear,, I don't feel sluggish, and no cravings. I do eat limited amount of atrificial sweetner.

I went on a month long sugar fast (including artificial sugars as well). A few infections I had went away, one of which was a UTI that refused to go away no matter what meds they gave me. I no longer get daily headache or weekly migraines. I now drink hot tea in the morning with 1 tsp of regular sugar a day, any other drinks I get through out the day are water or plain ice tea. I satisfy my sweet tooth with fruit and my favorite carrots.
I have had the once in a while craving (pregnancy related) for something like a brownie but I can only handle eating 1/2 a cup before it makes me nauseous from being too sweet. |
I tend to eat a lot of sugar. I've been trying to cut back too. I', gonna give it a week and I'll be back to let you all know how it goes. Wish me luck!
