Going back to work and very nervous!!

I go back to work today after being off for Christmas break. I joined WW last Wednesday and have been doing great.

But, I am the cook at our local elementary school's cafeteria!!! I am sooooo nervous about going to work. I have to be there at 7:30 and we have our lunch break at 10:30! I get home at about 2:00 and then our family doesn't eat until around 7:00!

I have been eating on a "normal" schedule this past couple weeks and I know this has helped me keep a damper on hunger.

I have been seriously thinking about eating a good breakfast then just having a nutritious snack at 10:30 and having a "real" lunch when I get home at 2:00. This way I won't be so hungry by dinner time???

Wish me luch! This schedule, plus preparing all the "junk" will be a definite temptation for me.

If I understand correctly, you plan to eat at 2 pm and then at 7 pm. Why?
Where is it written that you shouldn't eat anything in between? I would never go 5 hours without food. I eat every 2.5 - 3 hours.

I could see this working out for you if you could break your day up into six mini meals or equal intake. For instance:

7:00 breakfast

10:30 mini-meal 2

2:00 lunch

4:30 mini meal 4

7:00 dinner

9:00 mini meal 6

Eating more frequently keeps our metabolisms revved.

I eat much like Eliana suggests altho I don't csll them Minimeals, I call them snacks.I eat about every three hours.

Breakfast
Snack
Lunch
Snack
Dinner
Snack

You can work something like that into your schedule.

Thanks! I did ok today. The problem I need to work on though is having a "filling" breakfast. I had one packet instant oatmeal and 1 slice ww toast. But by 9:30 I was actually feeling kinda dizzy. I resisted though and had a Healthy Request steamer (6 points) for lunch and added one slice bread (1 point) and a small apple (1 point.

I keep remembering we have those 35 "flex points" to use at our discretion throughout the week. But being new, I don't really want to dive into those unless absolutely necessary.

No, you should eat those flex points. Don't save them! You sound like me when I first started. I didn't want to touch those flex points. You should eat the minimum of your daily points and then distribute your flex points over the week.

Don't just try to eat the minimum of your daily points all the time!

You could zig zag your points, which I find works really well. Let's say your daily points are 22. You would eat at 22 or 23 for a day or two and then you'd eat 32 points the next day. Then maybe 25 points the next day etc etc. Just mix it up until your flex points are used up.

Thank you! That sounds much better!! I was thinking this morning that if I could only add say an apple or even a small carton of ff milk I would feel better, but.....being new I didn't want to screw up.

So say my daily points are 24. Could I then add the 35 to get 59 and then distribute that number, the 59 for the week??

Flex points are there for that exact reason. :D

Well, the plan is that you eat at least 24 points each day. Then you have 35 flex points to distribute as you like. So, you can't ever take your daily points of 24 and add them to the 35 because your daily 24 is to be used every single day. The points you have to fiddle around with are your flex points (35) and any activity points you may earn. Personally, I try really hard not to eat any activity points but that's a personal choice.

Does that make sense?

Yes perfectly! I have 24 points each day that I need to eat (with healthy choices of course) and then for the entire week I have 35 flex points to distribute during that week (no rolling over) any way I want. As an example: I've eaten my 24 points for the day, but decide to go with family and get a 5 point "treat". I would deduct 5 points from my 35 weekly flex points leaving me 30.

Thanks again!

I think you have a good gameplan---keep yourself full with healthy foods while you are at work, so that you are not tempted by unhealthy foods. You can do it! :)
