Family eats dinner at the dining room table, no tv or anything. But breakfast, lunch, snacks I often eat at the computer if I am alone. Sometimes I eat at the table but then I am usually reading so same difference. Breakfast and lunch I could ALWAYS eat more than what I serve myself so the extra calories thing doesnt happen. When my plate is empty I am done. Dinner I tend to have extras around and often have extras.

wow, I hadn't thought about this much, interesting to read all the replies.
I eat three meals and three snacks. The meals are always at the table (I work out of my home for now). The morning and afternoon snacks (fruit, V8, crackers) I eat at the computer. The evening snack in front of the tv in the bedroom. We don't put the food on the table, we fill the plates and bring the plates to the table. |

So dinner for me was never really only about the food...eating at the table has many other pleasant associations like connecting with friends and family, strengthening bonds, communicating etc. Now I live on my own I still eat at the dining table. I might have a magazine (usually food related lol) or the newspaper to flick through. I will also never ever eat food while on the go, including lunch or snacks. I always sit down to eat and take a time out. I can't enjoy my food if I am rushing it down. |

I eat breakfast and usually dinner sitting at the table with DH. Sometimes the TV is on (at dinner), sometimes not. Lunch I often have at the table in the work kitchen, other times I eat out. Snacks are usually at my desk at work (unless they're messy), often at the computer at home. I seldom eat in the car unless my day is super crazy with meetings, etc.
I was raised to be home for dinner, and we had a family dinner time. I was always expected to be there with few exceptions, but I could always bring home a friend if I wanted. DH and I went different directions and worktimes so many years that we made breakfast our family meal. :) We were both there and could catch up with each other. For both breakfast and dinner, we fill our plates/bowls and bring them to the table, except that I usually serve veggies family style to encourage eating more. |

We eat at the table at least 5 times a week as well, but many time the TV is on. When we're not eating at the kitchen it's at the computer because DH and I are playing World of Warcraft and our teen son is out with friends, hehe |
