I am in shock and need support.
So, I just assumed that I was 170 lbs - based on my most recent endocrinologist's appointment statistics from Nov, 2009. I have been more controlled in what I eat - except for a one-time binge a couple of days ago when DH worked late and both kids were out of control. So, I ***-umed that I'd still be the same. Well, guess what? I don't. I am actually 175 lbs! I haven't been this heavy since immediately after giving birth to DD a few years ago.
This is such a rude awakening. I immediately took before pictures yesterday because I promised myself that by the time DS first birthday rolls around in a about 5 months' time, I am going to weigh AT LEAST 150 lbs. I also watched a lot of Biggest Loser episodes at HULU to get motivated and am off to the gym for an hour on the treadmill at least, gradually adding more demanding work-outs (including elliptical and stair-master). I am already a pre-diabetic and can't be stupid anymore. Please wish me well and please tell me that I can do this. Thanks, -Gayatri |
U can do this!
Keep coming back...there are very neat people and lots of information and support here! |
Thanks, Cathy. I need to do this. I really, really, really want and need to do this.

Of course you can do this! Why wouldn't you be able to? Losing weight is afterall a doable thing -for everyone and anyone. Yourself included.
People ask me all the time how I lost 165 lbs when they can't even lose 10 and I tell them that I decided to. I decided to do it, then committed to do it and that was that. Then you make a plan, tweak it as need be, don't accept ANY excuses - none what so ever, you stick to it no matter what, always getting back on track if you should veer, you get the job done. So decide to do this - and it WILL be done. You don't have to be overweight if you don't want to be. Period. It's your choice to be overweight just as it's your choice NOT to be. All the best. :) |
wow, rockinrobin, that is a good point.
I just took a few moments to actively decide to stay committed to my goals. thanks for the advice! |
I hope you don't mind me asking a question in your thread, but I have something along the same lines bugging me.
Is it true that you can just redistribute weight? I thought that was just something mothers said, lol. However, I am a bit baffled. All of my clothes are starting to fit either better, or they are loose. However, the scales say I've gained a pound! I know, muscle weighs more than fat, water weight, time of day, etc. It's just really hard to work toward a goal (with yes, occasional slip-ups), and actually moving backward. :( |
Yes it is... if you are working out you may be losing fat but gaining muscle. Try to do measurements along with the scale. That way you can see change in inches.... Good Luck!

I looked at my pictures (the ones that will now serve as my before pics) very closely to see if I look different than I thought I did last month (when I weighed in at the doctor's office) but don't. But then 5 lbs may not be easy to detect in a photo especially if it had piled on to your butt! I'm still trying to come to terms with the fact that what I'm doing is NOT working and that I need to do more. More exercise, less food.... something's got to give. I am sick and tired of being sick and tired. Fat sucks. |
