Why not? If it's the same topic, why start a whole new thread? On other forums I frequent, we chide people for not using the search function.

SMH...

I've lost about 93 pounds low carbing and walking. I walk 5 miles a day 5 days a week. I do get some moving into the weekend but we are too busy to track it. My eating is the most important part of my weight loss.

I want to try it out and see if it works. Also, does anyone know how many days a week and how much per day to lose weight? Thanks!
I rememeber a few years back the hubby and I joined a gym. We were both obese at the time and had BMIs of between 34-40. And we were so unfit we were only capable of walking on the treadmill and thats what we did for 40 minutes three times a week and even though the weight loss wasn't huge we still managed to lose about 2 kilos a month (about 4.5 pounds) and we hadn't changed anything else and our diet was still terrible.

Treadmills do burn calories its just not as much as other things in the gym.

At a later time in the gym I found that I lost more weight by going a mix of exercise bike, treadmill and the rowing machine - all of which are not high impact if you are unfit or overweight.

SMH? Really? That's uncalled for.

I understand using the search function to see if a question has already been asked but a person dug this up and then decided to answer the OP's question that was asked 5 years ago. OP is long gone.

Thumbs up Running on treadmill is better than running outside on pavement

I have been using treadmill for 3 months ago and walking on it 4 days a week for 1.2 kms in about 12 mins and I lost my weight upto 4 pounds. Actually it depends on your heart rate, as long as your heart rate is high, that's what counts for calories being burned. Treadmill exercise is another way I found to weight loss and burn fat.

I've been walking about 2-3 miles 5-6 times a week for almost 2 years. I've lost over 100 lbs over the course of almost 2 years. So it does work. But I also cut back on a lot of what I eat, I think what I eat now is about a third or fourth of what I used to eat. So for me, I think it was more diet than exercise that helped me lose weight, but I feel a lot better and I have more energy, and after a walk, I feel refreshed and I can daydream or plot some ideas for writing.

So all in all, walking does help both physically and mentally for me.
