The sun setteth ...
The Empress Amarantha returneth to the Imperial Spa Fitness Camp for evening assembly. A quiet assembly it was, as Elbertine Pep, the camp director, is still eating carrots in the dining hall. Samanatha the Spa Rat led the evening pep rally instead; Samantha is Elbertine's assistant, but carries a set of dumbells around instead of a whistle. She speaks little as she's intent on the flexing of her biceps and tightening of her triceps. She eyeth Amarantha's triceps and mumbles something about "waving good-bye" ... Amarantha taketh that as a hint that the muscles in question need work.
Amarantha's Wednesday challanges were all completed half-heartedly as this was a healing day. Amarantha ate a large 2810 calories, but it was NOT an after test binge, so she's cool. She did Pilates instead of pole walking, but did walk 15 minutes at a healing pace also. She did not challengeth herself to stroll across the Desert of No Food From 9 p.m. to Midnight, but will just the same. Amarantha's Thursday challenge is to continute a more moderate routine, thusly: She challengeth herself to 1) WORK ON THOSE TRICEPS SO THEY DON'T WAVE GOOD-BYE AFTER THE ARM STOPS! She plans on modifying her Thursday weights to focus mostly on arms (as Samanatha the Spa Rat has been heard to mutter: "Blast those arms! Shake up that routine!") while letting the rest of herself resteth. She also challengeth herself to 2) NOT BUY FOOD IN A CONVENIENCE STORE WHILE TRAVELING AND TO EAT ONLY WHAT IS IN HER COOLER. She also challengeth herself to 3) taketh her walking poles in car while traveling and to stop for even a slow and short walking pole hike. And, she challengeth herself to a 4) Fun Run before the Hour of No Food to Midnight and a chance to grab the 1899 Caloric Trophy. She will reporteth back and hopes Elbertine Pep has enjoyed her carrots and that HRH Babette/Arabella hath accomplished her work without resorting to ice cream or if she did resorteth that she enjoyed it. 168/166.5/135 |
O Queen Punkinseed of Friday & Emperess Amarantha, I do thank thee for thy noble efforts on mine own behalf. Alas and alack, I did not make it far beyond my cry for help. I did a set of tai chi and returned to the computer and found that my connection was down, which meant that I couldn't even WORK! Also, that I couldn't access your heroic efforts, although they are v. much appreciated anyway. Now, I know that doesn't mean that I had to go and have 2 big bowls of ice cream with chocolate-PB sauce (I'm WAY too inventive when it comes to these escapades  ) But that's what I did. Terri, the baby carrots were a very good idea. I thought afterwards that a nuked sweet potato would likely have helped. I find that they make me feel immediately better somehow. Ditto nutritional yeast, even though I have to push myself to take it. And I so much enjoyed the vision of you as MM swooping down and saving me from myself (I decided to keep the image pure and simple, rather than seeing MM come in on Kabota in trailing gown and tiara). You are heroic, as well as queenly! Amarantha, do you suppose that Elbertine Pep hath an sister who might come dwell in mine abode? Also a sister of thine chef might be indeed handy, since I don't think I could bring myself to enter the royal kitchen and ask for 2 bowls of ice cream with chocolate peanut butter sauce (doesn't even sound good to me now :p ). Hmmm... I think I'm going to try to invoke a kitchen guardian, to whom I will address my food desires before I eat. I've got a dinner to go to tonight where I know not what the food will be, so my food commitment today is just the basic "no eating when not hungry, no eating anywhere other than the table when alone." I should have held on to that last part yesterday anyway, because I find it enormously helpful. Also, I will: walk 3 miles and do 2 sets of circuit, and a set of tai chi drink >3L water (trying to wash all that sugar OUT :( ) eat at least 7 servings of fruit and veggies. Have a great day, Regal Ones! |
Hello fellow royals....
Well, I cheated... I bought my Norah Jones CD yesterday. I figured it's better to have the stress deduction now vs. waiting. It's wonderful and relaxing and I played it while making dinner and today's lunch last night. Very helpful.... HRH Babette - I'm sorry you weren't able to get back to us online. As for the ice cream - are you sure we're not sisters??? I do the same, chocolate sauce and peanut butter. Basically, if chocolate and PB are in it, I'll eat it regardless of WHAT it is (choc/PB coated liver chunks, sure pass 'em on over!). :p Emp Amarantha - I'm with ya on the arm work - I do my arm/leg and ab stuff while watching John Edward every other night. Soon the royal wave won't involve more than a twisting wrist... My 1 day challenge is going famously - water in the morning instead of FOOD. I see a huge turn-around coming. I've started reading some of Dr. Wayne Dyer's stuff and he's incredibly motivating! Terri |
ARM WIGGLERS UNITE
yes, some where a flower on the lapel, others wear a wiggle.
Me too. and the chocolate icecream is a real Sybil for me. Once I stop at that island, I can't get off. very tough- DH brought a excercise bike out of storage ( we were painting and put it "out of the way" ) - this am I did 15 min because its been so long since I've been on it. I really feel as though it made a difference in how my day went. There were moments of lots of plates spinning but I felt as though I could keep most of them spinning- I didnt get that sick stomach, clenched jaw feeling. I know I'm an early riser so its easier for me than others, but I really recommend it. Before your shower (naturally)--it just sets the tone- I guess it was getting my heart rate up- I climb stairs during the day but as I need to get from floor to floor, I hadnt been doing enough to get my heart pumping. There is really good news on the 21 day thread-- go see!! |
Letter from camp
Dear Royal Friends and Spa Goers: Amarantha is at the evening assembly held at sunset here at the Imperial Spa Fitness Camp, South Empire. She asked me, her loyal secretary, Bob Elbert, to compose a missive to send to all. Amarantha has had a hard day, but told me to say she is proud that she meteth three out of four challenges today, with the fifth challenge of strolling across the Desert of No Food From 9 P.M. to Midnight still ahead, but Amarantha saith it's in the bag. Amarantha blasted arms from all angles this a.m. and resteth the rest of her body. She boughteth no food on the road and ate only from her cooler. She tooketh an ersatz hike with walking poles by the side of the road. She had wanteth to hike on the Arizona Trail, but curseth that the dang trailhead was closed as it is on a state park and the state park director fighteth this week with the legislature over budgets and holdeth the populace up to ransom by closing down the parks. Amarantha is sending a sternly written missive by carrier pigeon this day. The only challenge unmet was the winning of the 1899 trophy in a caloric Fun Run; Blob (not to be confused with Bob) ran out from the crowd during that event and forced a quarter-cup serving of lowfat ice cream with sugar free maple syrup on it, so by a hare, Amarantha did not make the challenge. However, she laughed in Blob's face, as if lowfat ice cream and sugar free maple syrup was the best he could do, he needed to go into another line of work. He skulked away and hasn't been seen since.
Queen Kaylets: Amarantha congratulates you on restoring your exercise bike to service. She totally agrees that early exercise is a great way to start the day, regardless of a recent news item she read that early exercise makes people sick. How silly, she saith. :dz: Queen Punkinseed: Amarantha desireth me to say she also likes Wayne Dyer and findeth him sensible and motivating. She congratulateth you on your good day. HRH Arabella/Babette of the Wood Nymphs: Sorry E. Pep and the Punkin-prescribed carrots did not reach you in time to fend off the deadly choco-peanut butter bug. Mayhap next time! 168/166.5/135 |
Comes the sun ...
The Empress Amarantha hath again requested Bob Elbert, her loyal royal secretary, to send a dispatch to all Royal Friends and Spa Attendees and citizens of the Empire of the Walking Poles:
Amarantha attended morning assembly in the Spa Fitness Camp. Elbertine Pep ledeth the assembly and the sounds of whistles and "YOU CAN DO IT" echoed through the tranquil pine forests in which the camp is situated. Amarantha issueth the following challenge for herself: 1) She will walketh a total of TWO (yes) hours accompanied by Walking Poles 1 & 2 or Walking Poles 3 & 4 (in case Blob is still lurking to attack her and perform retro liposuction ... a process by which he steals human muscle tone and replaces it with fat) ... Amarantha has already walked 70 minutes with WP 1 & 2 so the rest, she saith, is a cinch; 2) She will attend the Caloric Fun Run and attempt to grab the 1999 Trophy; 3) She again will stroll through the Desert of No Food From 9 P.M. to Midnight. Elbertine Pep has agreed to accompany Amarantha at that time to keep an eye out for Blob. Elbertine herself has NO problems walking across the Desert of No Food, as he ALWAYS has a healthy breakfast, lunch and dinner between sessions of healthy exercise, meditation and intellectual pursuits. Elbertine is entirely health and mentally stable and saith to Amarantha, "YOU CAN DO IT, TOO!" (Sigh.) To all, Amarantha saith: "HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY IN FITNESS LAND! STRIVETH FOR YOUR GOALS WHATEVER THEY MAY BE!!! WE CAN DO THIS!!! REALLY!!!" 168/166.5/135 |
Today, Queen Punkin, ruler of Friday, is in the WORST mood. Anger, frustration and hurt have, for the moment anyway, ruined her royal Friday.
I was supposed to have next Friday off. But now, no, I can't have it because my boss, whom is also my MOTHER has decided to leave town because SHE's stressed because she's had company every other week for a month.... :stress: We're obviously going to have to have a talk about this since I am the one that's been working alone while she entertained.... I needed this like another hole in the head. My eating is already, um, "off" and now you throw in depression, anger, etc.???? Oh, and the fire nearest us that's been contained for a week jumped the containment lines and took off again. They caught it, but GEEZ!!! I'm going home and drinking. Monday I will be changing my life. I'm sick and tired of feeling sick and tired. Too bad you have to get THIS sick of everything to make a change. Ok, somebody pass me the wine....:dz: Terri |
Q. Punkin o' Friday, does Amarantha sense some stress in your latest missive? Does Amarantha have to send Elbertine Pep over to your Royal Fitness Spa cabin with a glass of noncaloric Cheery Cherry Wine?
Amarantha would advise you to talk back to your boss and tell her exactly how unfair she is being, but ... since she's your mother ... No help for it, you need the Cheery Cherry Wine. It's Elbertine's private stock. No cheery words about the fires. They are a bummer but will endeth someday, we presume. Ours did. Someday Amarantha will share more about that. Not today as you need to sit in a cool tub (the Fitness Spa cabins are equipped with sunken hot/cool tubs whose waters fizz gently to tinkling music attuned to each camper's biorhythms and lap softly in rhythm to the oceans' tides and the swaying of the pine forests. Feel better, hide from Elbertine if she has the whistle though. Amarantha's challenges are coming along. It doesn't look good for the 1999 Caloric Trophy, but still chasing it. |
Empress Amarantha perceiveth she has three posts in a row and so feeleth she must get a life and cool it awhile. She is in a funky mood. She will be leaving camp for an undisclosed location but expects to return to the spa tomorrow for the ceremony of weighing in on The Golden Scale that measureth good intentions as well as weight loss.

The Walking Pole patrol accompanies Amarantha and Elbertine, but spare poles are in the spa closets. Alll royal guests and generalized fitness folk are welcome to stayeth on or goeth as they see fit! Towel Boy stays.

Thank you Empress Amarantha, the cheery cherry wine went very well with my tequila and margaritas Saturday... thank you!
I must confess that I failed my 1 day challenge this morning. I forgot all about my water because I threw out my back. As I sit here, pain is radiating from my waist down, around my hips and down my legs.... I believe it's the pent up stress coming to a physical head. I shall enjoy a hot bath when I go home, until then, my royal butt is in pain and I have an ice-pack up against my lower back.... :( But, the mood is cheerier, as I will be afloat in Lake Shasta in 10 weeks with my dearest friends... :dizzy: 'Tis all for now, I must walk....
