TOM, do you weigh?

im on day 3 of TOM and i know if i weigh tomorrow (wed is my official weigh day) my weight will probably be up.

do you weigh during TOM?

JulieJ08 09-22-2009 01:51 PM

Yes. It drives me crazier *not* knowing than just acknowledging that it's a TOM-induced blip.

Jacquie668 09-22-2009 03:06 PM

I do yes. I like to see where I'm at. An example, three months ago I weighed close to 290 during TOM. This month my high was 272, so I know I'm making progress. I like to see the fluctuations and see how my bloating and things effect me. Helps me navigate it a bit more positively.

Yes, I do. If you begin to chart you will see there are natural fluctuations monthly. You will know when you expect to see a peak and when your valleys should return. No reason to fear the scale if you are doing your part--no fear any time of the month!

That is so true. And not just *during* TOM. I have another peak around the middle of my cycle that would make me worry if I didn't know better.

That's part of the reason I weigh daily... I can see my weight climb and fall (or, sometimes, jump and plummet) around TOM so it doesn't freak me out as much as one big number would. I might dread it more that time of month :p but I still do it.

I'm on the pill so I kinda forget when TOM is due... I realize it when I see a sudden spike in my weight (I weigh daily) and I can't explain it away. I think it's good to see up and down blips. Helps me understand your body better and not get so frustrated throughout the process. I also like the sudden drop in weight following TOM. Well, in my case I only go up 2-3 lbs, so it's not THAT big a drop, but still, makes me happy. :)

Yes, tonight is my official weigh-in and I've been on TOM since yesterday. My weight is a little up and there is nothing I can do about it but accept and know that next week it will be done.

I have to be able to see a trend line. So I weigh daily and average my weights for the week. I do not change my ticker until my weekly avg changes.

Julie..oddly enough I also have a fluctuation @ ovulation..it isn't as bad as cycle time but definitely still present.

I do weigh during TOM, I wouldn't miss it -- it's my biggest week of weight loss in my 4-week cycle. It's so fascinating to me, how bodies can be so different...

Tante Claire 09-22-2009 08:45 PM

Absolutely! I need to know how my body is doing, and it's not like I can ignore the 5-lb gain, clothes that fit me comfortable suddenly are too tight, so I'd rather know.

I confort myself by knowing that this, too, shall pass. And seeing the scale go down 6 lbs. in two days? Priceless!

matafleur 09-26-2009 04:57 AM

I weigh every day, and log my weight. Of course I also indicate TOM in my weight log.
