Looking different at the same weight?

Is this possible or am I just imagining it?

I look "smaller" (I'm using that very loosely) now at 310 than I did when I had originally started gaining weight and was at 300 a few months ago. Especially in my face. I was comparing pictures too and there definitely is a difference.

Has anyone else noticed this happening?

are you exercising a lot?

Yes

My family have noticed this too (I always find it difficult to see the changes). I haven't lost a huge amount yet, however my clothes fit a little differently. I have a couple of dresses I love that were made for me by a friend. I know that these were cut exactly too my measurements and they're gaping in places a little because they're too bit around the bust.

If you're exercising a lot, that probably has a lot to do with it. Congrats though, it must feel very encouraging! Keep it up!

yes, you may be burning fat even though your weight isnt changing.

Absolutely. At 260+ lbs age 40 I was essentially the same size I'd been at 220 lbs age 32. I lifted very heavy weights winter/spring and it really made a difference. I am probably carrying 30 lbs of muscle I never had before (I won the luck of the genetic draw and can build muscle very easily). At 250 lbs, all my real-life friends who knew I was dieting guessed my weight at around 200. I have a friend who weighs 190-something, 2 inches taller than me, and I wear a smaller size. So, to answer your question, yes, it's possible.

For what it's worth even when I was obese I *thought* I looked fit in the mirror most of the time. Then I would see pics and know my eyes had somehow deceived me.

I suppose your case is possible. I have people tell me to creat more muscle which will essentially make me gain weight. However, I am *told* I will wear a smaller size if I do it correctly.

When I first started working with my trainer, over the period of a few months my weight stayed the same but I went down a clothing size. I had lost some fat and gained some muscle, and was smaller as a result (a pound of fat takes up a lot more space than a pound of muscle). But you do have to work at it, both with weight training, and eating to build muscle.
