I think this is a major obsticle for me as well. I do not drink soda, but I def drink milky drinks and know that if I just stuck to plain water, my life could be much easier. But I love that coffee in the morning! I suppose black coffee/ black tea is practically calorie free.

What's the brand of soy milk they use at Starbucks? I love it and am curious if I can buy some at stores...

I just started working at Starbucks a few weeks ago and it is lethal being able to have all the free drinks I want. Not to mention all the well meaning co-workers insisting I give this and that a try. I've been having a serious talk with myself that I cannot drink milk based drinks all day. I'm going to allow myself one and then switch to tea and water. I love all the tea flavors, so there is no excuse except for my growing addiction to triple shot cappuccinos.

I'm with you. I'm now at the age where recommendation is 3 cups of lowfat dairy per day and if I don't drink skim milk as my beverage choice I'd never get there.

Where on the thread is anyone calling milk terrible? I prefer almond but will accept skim if almond isn't available.

The soy milk is specially formulated for Starbucks now, so I'm not sure of the brand but I can check next time I go in. It used to be Silk, but they switched to a brand with more protein (this might be regional).

Anyone else excited about Via finally coming out? It's the new instant coffee, and I was very skeptical but now I'm hooked. I love that I can make my own blended mochas with sugar free mocha and light soy at home and bring them with me. The via tastes pretty darn good blended, and comes in a packet like crystal light. Everyone at my store is hooked from the samples, and there's no additives. It's just starbucks coffee ground incredibly fine.

Well, the original post surely implied it:

I am going to STOP drinking my calories! If it's got more than 30 calories a serving I will no longer partake. Even alcohol!!!! Seriously!!! What a foolish way to nom down calories.

I used to drink SO much soda...regular, not diet. I also loved lemonades, slurpees, fruit smoothies, coffee drinks, etc. Now, all I really drink is water and ice tea with no sweetener. I think it's made a big difference for me. The other night I decided to splurge and order a fountain Coke at dinner. Do you know what, it tasted terrible to me. Really really bad. Too sweet, too much carbonation, I don't know what it was, but I only drank a little and pushed it away. My sister had one too, and I asked her whether hers tasted bad. She said hers was great, so I guess my taste for soda has changed.

We just had our Via store meeting and we are very excited and hopeful about the new product that Starbucks is launching. I did a taste test on both the Columbia and the Italian Roast yesterday at home. I didn't care for the Columbia, but I can't stand the lighter roast coffee like Pike's Place. I liked the Italian very much and I will definitely being doing a partner mark out and keeping this stuff on hand. It will be great for when we travel.
