2nd Anniversary SHAME

:( Today is the 2nd anniversary of my journey of better choices.

On 7/23/07 I weighed 201

On 7/23/08 I weighed 170 :carrot:

Today I am at 184 :(

It didn't :s: sneak up on me

I am not a happy camper this morning

I am off to work

Don't really feel like chatting about it this morning

Maybe later :)

jendiet 07-23-2009 09:59 AM

EZ! At least you caught it. You are still on top of the game. I hope you have a good day!

mayness 07-23-2009 10:09 AM

luvja 07-23-2009 10:11 AM

You've lost those 14 lbs before, and you can do it again. I believe in you! :)

Onederchic 07-23-2009 10:22 AM

You haven't by chance been drinking more buckets of salt, have you?

You can get back to where you want to be, I'll cheer you on!

kiramira 07-23-2009 10:48 AM

Hmmm, maybe the food porn threads in General Chatter aren't as, um, harmless, as some think...

But as long as you stay away from the Stuffed Pizza Rolls, you'll get through this!

Oh, and don't beat yourself up about it. Weight is temporary. This happens to us all at some point. The difference is getting a grip on it.

Kira

DCHound 07-23-2009 10:48 AM

You totally caught it before it got out of hand! You can do it again!! Hugs.

CamiToo 07-23-2009 10:53 AM

Sounds like you need a few hugs.
You caught the weight before you'd gained it all back. You'll lose those pounds again.:)

ennay 07-23-2009 10:54 AM

Have you seen my ticker Gary? You got less to relose than I...you can do it! Although apparently the strep and amoxycillin diet is rather effective.

harrismm 07-23-2009 11:23 AM

Been there EZ.:)

Ya, it is a pain to have to lose weight again. I know that story! But you can do it. And the really good thing is that you aren't back over 200.

So, not great news, but not awful! Get back on that horse and ride... get back to making better choices!

AlleyTD 07-23-2009 03:34 PM

I must agree with everyone else.
At least you caught it before it all came back and then some.
you are still AHEAD of the game.
Jump back on the wagon ... :carrot:
you can do it

EZMONEY 07-23-2009 11:02 PM

Thank you all so much for your support

Last year I worked so hard to lose the weight.

31 pounds! :carrot:

I was at 170 this day last year....but realistically it was probably 5 pounds too light.

Never the less...I am at 184 as of this morning which is approximately 10 pound heavier than I should be. Now I know, depending on our current weight journeys, 10 pounds might not be a lot to some.

However, those 10 pounds on me, are all about being lazy.

Too many nacho breakfasts ~ too many.....dare I say it?....beers...;) ~ too many "hey babe, why don't we get a pizza to go"....too many freakin' chips....they are the  devil's  food ya know!

Too many not doing the extra miles on the treadmill ~ too many Nathan hot dogs instead of the Hebrew national low fat ones. Too many cheese burgers ~ too many chunky soups instead of light ones for my work lunches.

I am proud :carrot: of the good things I continue to do on my journey. I try to share those and I also try to be honest with my mistakes along the way.

I am so blessed to have you all here to support me!

I want the belly in the first picture from this day last year...not the one from a few weeks ago next to it!

harrismm 07-23-2009 11:21 PM

Your wife is very pretty and THIN..........better try me some yoga!

EZMONEY 07-23-2009 11:30 PM

that's my girlfriend....thanks...my wife took the pictures

EZMONEY 07-23-2009 11:55 PM

OK my wife is my girlfriend...the kids took the pictures.

My wife is one of those types of people that can have one drink ~ one cookie ~ one desert ~ one serving ~

she also is the type of person that exercises almost daily

she eats fruits and crackers for snacks...a few at a time

a cup of tea is her favorite after dinner snack/drink

processed food is not included in her diet

she is not afraid to have pizza...but eats her 2 pieces and salad

she is not afraid to have a burger and fries...

everything in moderation for her...

my wife is the type of person that if she has an extra hour in her day....she looks at it like "What can I do with this extra hour"...sometimes it is just reading more in her book...or crossword puzzle she always has going

for me, if I find that extra hour....well...let's see....hellooooo nap!

luvja 07-24-2009 02:12 AM

I wish I could have some of your Wife's habits. Haha. And for the record, looking at those pictures, I think you look great either way! :)

SunshineCA 07-24-2009 03:49 AM

Hi EZ! I'm joining the  for you bandwagon since I missed out yesterday. You're 1 of the few that makes me believe that it can be done! :) Thanks for your honesty on regaining those pesky 10 pounds. I'm sure once you buckle down you'll drop them in no time. :)

BTW~You and your sweetheart are the cutest!! :val2:

Mrs Snark 07-24-2009 09:15 AM

There is never shame when you're still fighting the good fight!

Tomato 07-24-2009 01:04 PM

Oh Gary, were you drinking too much of the ginger coffee with foam???

But boy, do I know what you mean. I HATE having to lose the same weight twice. But you KNOW you CAN do it! Hugs your way.

2fat4u 07-24-2009 11:37 PM

Good luck, i know we have all felt that before

EZMONEY 07-24-2009 11:54 PM

I thank all of you for your support

Honestly I do not feel "shame"....I just used that for "THREAD ATTENTION" purposes.

I am disappointed in myself though for doing so well in my first year of "journey of better choices" then going back to some of my old ways during my second year.

I am proud of myself for the efforts I did learn and did stick too! :carrot:

I know there were many meals I deliberately "downsized" on my own....

Many popcorn snacks I passed on....

Klondike bars gone bad in the freezer....

My meals and my weight are on my mind at every meal....but I am not obsessed about it. I weigh every single morning...but still no obsession.

It has become my routine. It helps to keep me closer to goal than to where I was.

We may not win every battle gals...but we will win the war if we keep up the fight!

luvja....many of my wife's habits are ones we all should have...Like I said she can have a cup of tea and one cookie or a couple of multi-grain crackers....

for me it's the bag or nutin'....I am a work in progress....that bag has become a bowl with a serving of chips and some low cal olives for a bit extra...

I am not ashamed to have such great support!

dragonwoman64 07-25-2009 09:05 AM

I think the pics of the two of you look great too. Very nice looking couple.

--first, congrats on keeping off the 17lbs (you DID NOT gain it all back and plus some), and for getting back on track when it's 10 lbs to lose
--maybe you've reverted back to some old habits now and again, but I know from reading your posts that you have kept up lots of good habits

and if it makes you feel any better, the first thing I thought reading this is that so many people feel if they slip up (including myself at times) that it means a total loss of control and that all the good that's been done through so much hard work gets thrown out the window (which DOES happen to many people, and HAS happened to me), and that can lead to feelings of hopelessness and giving up.

It can be a different scenario, more moderate, more manageable and Ok. You have such a positive attitude, Gary, it cheers me up to read your posts.

EZMONEY 07-25-2009 09:13 AM

Thank you for your kind words DRAGON....had dinner with a kid from Jersey last night....my step-d's new boyfriend...interesting differences in how east and west live...commute.

Have a great week-end.

dragonwoman64 07-25-2009 09:20 AM

is he a Path trainer? I went into the city (via subway) yesterday for fun, I work out of my apartment. I'm always impressed by the women who can do all the walking and steps the subway requires IN HIGH HEELS, ha! I practically live in my sneakers.

PS I love to drive, but I don't miss having a car, I like being forced to hoof it to places (ok, I do take the occasional cab, car service)

Margie

ifyernasty 07-25-2009 12:39 PM

Oh, I'm with ya. I've gained about ten pounds in the last six months. NOT HAPPY!

But, I've done it before and will do it again and so can you!!

EZMONEY 07-25-2009 03:44 PM

Thanks ifernasty

Margie...oops...the new boyfriend is from Long Island....he takes a train 1 hr 20 minutes to Manhattan for work. Her roommate is from Jersey.

SunshineRunner 07-25-2009 04:26 PM

Okay EZ - you make me post in the forum for the first time in well over 6 months. I've missed you! We both achieved goal at the same time, but I, like you, feel like I've just gotten lazy. I haven't gained weight, but I've completely slacked off on the gym and am going to take your post (and your spirit) and have it force me back on the bandwagon. I'm not running the distances I was last year (still have a 1/2 marathon to prepare for though!), and my body is not as firm as it was even 5 months ago...because I've gone from 5 nights a week at the gym to about 3. Ugh. I'm back on the wagon. I would like to drop an additional 10lbs though, so maybe we can do that together? I'll see you around!

CountingDown 07-25-2009 09:59 PM

Gary,
First - congrats on maintaining SOME loss over the year.

Now, on to the :kickbutt:

You absolutely KNOW what to do. Angie is an excellent role model, even if you do forget.
Your "girls" need exercise, and so do you - even with your physical job.

Portion control and wise choices are a lifestyle thing. You CAN do this. You know you can. It is TOTALLY up to you. No one else. Are you willing to give up those extra indulgences to lose that 10 lbs?

Your call.

We are rooting for you, as you have done for us over the years. Are those extra 10 lbs. a major health issue? Probably not. Would you be happier without them? Probably. So, get to it. Take those carryout containers with you, and chose wisely when you dine out. More Coke Zero, and less beer. How about a 30 day "no chips challenge"?

You CAN do this!

Sweetcaroline 07-25-2009 11:45 PM

So So So sorry I missed this till today Gary... :o
Please give yourself credit for addressing the problem by coming in here right away and telling your friends what was up... getting and accepting their love and guidance...
So you slipped up a little ... we all do, I think it may hurt a wee bit more because its an anniversary... It sounds like you are turning things around already...You can do it !!! Tweak a few habits and you'll be on a roll again...
So get to the farmers market and spend some green on greens...
You have all of us supporting you... and you know we love ya...!!

EZMONEY 07-26-2009 08:20 PM

AMANDA I have missed you too! I am glad you have not gained...that is so awesome. You worked so hard to get to where you were. It is easy to "take a break" when we reach our goals...after all that hard work sometimes we fell the need for a break. Just as in every day life. The key is to get back up and running...which you are :carrot:...What can I say kiddo other than if you go about life and work as hard as TEBOW does to achieve success...you will always be a winner! Great to see you around.

SCOOTER I can honestly say that 90+% of the time I am happy with my portion sizes. You know me well enough to know that I own this...no one else...I know the cheese nachos are not ideal for breakfast...I know that just walking with my girls on the week-end is not gonna get it anymore...no matter how hard a day I had. I know lite beer has it's benefits...as long as I don't double up "portions" for taste!

SWEET-C  Like MANNY even when we screw up there is hope! Thanks for stopping in with your support...as always I need it! One NATION for ALL ;)
