getting discouraged!!!

So.... I started back up four days ago and only lost 2 pounds so far, i thought you were supposed to lose the most the first week! I have 3 days left til my weigh in that i log and a little worried I was hoping to at least lose 5 pounds for the first week! Maybe i will, but maybe i wont! Has anyone lost a little the first week? then more other weeks?

You are setting unrealistic expectations. You have already lost 2 lbs in 4 days - that is absolutely fantastic.

Sometimes people lose a lot the first week, sometimes people don't. Try to concentrate on healthy changes you are making - not the scale. YOU are in charge of the healthy choices you make, you have little influence over the scale. Obsessive scale watching is a potential path to disappointment and giving up.

I didn't weigh myself the first week, so sorry I can't share how much I lost.

You're discouraged because you only lost 2 pounds in 4 days? :?:

Beginner or not, it looks like your expectations are just too high. Are you changing your lifestyle, or just trying to lose pounds as fast as possible? If you're taking the latter approach, you'll never maintain your weight loss (assuming you reach your goal in the first place). Take a breath, slow down, and let the pounds come off at a reasonable pace. Quick weight loss is usually temporary weight loss.

By the way, 2 pounds is great, so please don't be discouraged!

Losing 2 lbs a week is a good/healthy/safe rate. Losing 5 lbs a week might be too fast, losing 5+ lbs in a month sounds more realistic. This is assuming that the weight loss is achieved by healthy diet and exercise. I WISH I lost 2 lbs a week ;) Seriously, you're on the right track- you're doing good. Just keep it up; if you lose two lbs a week for an entire month, you should definitely reward yourself :)

yeah i guess your both right! I want to lose evenly in the long run, i guess i am exited about meeting my new mans family for the first time in a couple of weeks! so im a little nervous! His ex wife was huge and his family hated her, i really want them to like me ! My last boyfriend always put me down for many years telling me how fat i was and that no one would want me and im lucky that he even stays with me, so i guess i wanna look my best!

If that's your pic, you are absolutely gorgeous. Would kill for your cute chin and lovely eyes. You will knock his parents dead! What you don't want to do is starve yourself and then pass out in front of them - not a good first impression. Be happy and healthy and polite and they will adore you!

My sentiments exactly.

I bet there were issues far beyond her weight that caused the friction with the family. Focus on yourself and all you bring to the relationship and don't for a moment think that someone who will judge you only on the way you look is worth the time of day. Stupid ex has his head firmly up his rear end and you should do everything in your power never to repeat those words to yourself again. Do you know much about his family? I would see how much you can learn about them before you go meet them and then just keep the focus on them and learning about them when you visit. You'll be the cat's meow after that!

You have received some great advice in the above posts. can't improve on what has already been said.

hun, that is a great loss. I agree 5lbs a week may be too much. You are lovely and I'm sorry you had a verbally abusive bf. I think you are just projecting your past experience and fear on this situation.

I doubt they hated the ex because she was huge. I am sure there is something more to it. And you are not huge so you don't have to worry if that WAS the reason.

I started at the exact weight as you at about an inch taller. I know for sure that I didn't lose 5 lbs the first week, nor any week since then for that matter. You've lost 2 lbs so far and those are 2 lbs that are gone forever. I didn't lose anything for a few weeks and have just lost 2.5 lbs in the last week and a half. You'll always have fluctuations from week to week as far as your weight and weight loss.
