nothing short of a small miracle...

I was actually craving....that's right craving salad today. :carrot:

It gets crazier... i was umming and ooohing my way through the salad today like i used to only with something chocolate...like a brownie.

Who AM I? Am I finally getting some semblance of control over my eating? I dunno who this person is but I'm happy to meet her.

Sugarhabit, i know just what you mean!!! I never used to crave salad but now i find myself absolutely drooling over the thought of some leafy greens with dried cranberries and chickpeas!! YUM!! (I actually just ate that for dinner a couple of hours ago!) Sometimes i find myself not breathing in between bites!! lol, it's soooo good! Hey if we can replace chocolate with salad id say thats not too bad! Good luck!

I actually remember my first salad craving as a HUGE NSV. :bravo:

Nothing short of miraculous, I agree.:)

How very wonderful for you!

I love a good salad . . . . and I love the way you said you were making the noises usually reserved for some sort of food-porn like brownies :D Awesome!

Yesterday, I made what is my now famous roasted chicken salad over a bed of baby spinach and mixed greens with sliced red onion, green peppers, crumbled low-fat blue cheese, green olives, dried cranberries, and chopped walnuts. I drizzled a Dijon and balsamic vinaigrette that I make from scratch.

I have to make this salad at least once a week because I crave it so bad. My sweetie says it's better than any salad we could get at a restaurant. :smug:

Eating healthy is so much fun and so enjoyable. Tomorrow I'm going to make a sweet-potato and cabbage slaw for the first time and I can't wait! How weird is that??? :dizzy:

LOL - my 5 yr son was seriously arguing for McD's last weekend, and we just weren't in the mood for it. He said, "But Mama, they have your favorite food there!" I had to stop and think - I've never been a fast food person. "Ok honey, what's that?" "They have salad Mama!"

Lots of food for low calories, and you can mix lots of flavors. Love it!

Isn't it odd but in an awesome kinda way? Before I would have never ate a salad without a ton of cheese, olives, bacon and drowned in dressing. These days I love one with plenty of fresh veggies, no cheese and light on the dressing :)

vixxi, I like to throw in a few dried cranberries into my salad as well. I usually mix veggies with fruit so my salad always has a base of spinach + romaine lettuce + red bell pepper. I usually add of the following (depending of what I have): cucumber - grated carrot - diced pineapple - diced cantaloupe - sliced strawberries - some dried cranberries or apricots - sunflower seeds - flax seeds.

Can I second the request for this recipe? I LOVE making my own slaw, and I LOVE sweet potatoes!

Arctic Mama 07-09-2009 10:51 AM

I love salad, so varied and tasty! But I confess my favorite thing to do with it is stick sweet onion dressing on the side and roll up the uncut lettuce leaves like big cigars. I use less dressing and it's great finger food (fork-eating salad is always really messy with me!).
