Hey girls! Weigh in was tonight. Down 1.6lbs this week. I'll take it! That's 8lbs in three weeks. Might get my ten pound ribbon next week if I really stay OP this week.

Punkin, that sounds like a nasty blow to your ear! Hope your allergies are better tonight.

Amyjo, I had a feeling that what you're going through might be the finality of knowing you won't have any more kids. Hang in there....you'll find a way to accept it in your own time. Ever thought about Big Sisters?

Sheila, here in Canada a landlord/landlady cannot refuse any offer the tenant makes to pay their rent. She really sounds like she's taking advantage of the situation to get you out. I understand you not wanting to ruffle feathers since you want out anyway, though.

Soozie, drop by anytime!

Flower, how goes it?

If anyone is out there lurking, stop by and say hello! We'd love to hear from you!

New "loser"

Hi all…

I was wondering if you were receiving new members. I haven’t seen many people on this forum that are not from US/UK/CAN so I figured that this group would be nice for a lonesome Bosnian (plus I’ve been lurking around for a while and you seem like a fun and supportive bunch :D )…

So, a little bit about me:
As I said I’m from Sarajevo, Bosnia, 26 years old journalism student.
I’ve started my diet 11 days ago at 92 kg (around 205 lbs.), and currently I’m at 88 kg (196 lbs.) – good loss but as we all know, mostly water. My first goal is to get to 85 kg (189.5 lbs.) by the end of next week – I know it’s too soon, but I kind of made a bet with my best friend. My final weight goal is 60 kg (134 lbs.) – and I hope I’ll be there by summer next year.

When it comes to dieting I’m a bit extreme – I’m currently limiting my calorie intake to 600 tops. I’m fighting with it – I know it’s bad, I’m trying to find a balance, but with me it’s either all the way or not at all (and it always ends up as not at all) – sad, isn’t it? :(

Better part of my diet is exercising: I’m taking karate twice a week, I lift weights at home also twice a week and I walk several miles almost every day.
:strong:

That’s about it, I know I probably ended saying waaay too much for my first post, so I apologize for that. Hope you decide to take me in, and I hope we’ll be loosing together…

Good morning all and Happy Friday-eve! (ok, I know that's hokey, but anything to get me through one more day)

I'm going to be an absolute slug this weekend. I'm going to hang a curtain on the door in my breakfast nook (it's an all glass door and when the sun sets my whole kitchen heats up) but first I'm going to use fabric paint to stamp little spirals on it (it needs some pizzaz). Then I'm sitting on my butt all weekend. After driving 1000 miles in 3 days last weekend, I deserve it!

Wildfire - Congrats on the 1.6!!! I have every belief that you'll get that coveted 10 pound ribbon next week!

Soozie - Please feel free to come by any time you'd like! I post other places occasionally too.

Vjestica - Welcome to the group! Wow, Bosnia? Amazing how our computers make the world so much smaller isn't it? I live in the US, Oregon, to be exact. I'm going to agree with Sheila about your 600 calories a day - you'll lose weight, but you might regain it easier. I hope with the support I know you'll get here ;) that you'll be able to find a healthy balance. I hope you enjoy it here!

Well, I should get some work done since tomarrow is Friday and I intend on working as little as possible tomarrow. Sears is coming tomarrow to fix my elliptical (my ear is still sore) so this weekend I can get started on that fun little toy! Also calling my Dr. to get an appt. to have a fasting cholesterol done soon....

Terri :moo:

Vjestica 06-28-2002 08:28 AM

Hi again

First of all thank you for your welcoming words – it’s much appreciated! ;)
I’m in a very good mood – just came back from visiting mom at work, and her coworkers continuously complimented my weight loss – I tried to tell them it’s not that much, but I guess all the exercising is finally paying off.
:strong:

As far as my diet goes, I know it’s way to law in calories, and as I said – I’m fighting with it – somehow I’ve convinced myself that anything above is not dieting, and if I go over even a few calories I completely fall of the wagon. I’m trying to increase it daily – I’ve had 700 cal yesterday and I stayed on track (not much but it’s an improvement for me).

Sheila - You lost 30 lbs. already - that’s great!!! I’m sure that the rest will be coming off sooner that you think…

Punkinseed – I envy you on your slow weekend – I’m taking my orange (Karate) belt test tomorrow and I have three exams on Monday, so no rest for me… You enjoy it – never know when one of those is gonna come up again…

I guess that's all for now, talk to ya all soon…

Vjestica ~ Don't know if I have had a chance to welcome you, so WELCOME. You sound as busy as I do :) Nice to know that I am not the only one with a chaotic life .... Actually everyone here has some form of chaos going on, that is why we get along so well...

Sheila ~ What is the news on the new place? Thank you for your words of encouragement, things are better-

WF ~ When are you guys suppose to move? GRATZ on the loss... I have gained every pound you have lost.... Big sisters isn't real big (pardon the pun) here, once I graduate- I may toy with the idea of pre-conception counseling and consider trying again... or maybe adoption. There are so many kids out there who need so much, even those with families. Speaking of... went to a wake last night (viewing of one who has passed away- don't know what they call that in other countries). It was for the mother of a friend from highschool. There was a baby there in a diaper and a dirty T-shirt and that is all this kid had on, that bothered me so bad. This was this ladies great grandchild and it wasn't even dressed, the explanation was well they don't have much.. That upset me.

Well, I have one kid who had oral surgery this morning and the other is running 102-103 temp, so I have my weekend set out for me :( ...

I am getting back OP... Yesterday wasn't bad but I just didn't have anytime to eat, don't expect to have a great deal of time this weekend. Will check in later.

Hugs to you all~
Amy

Wildfire 06-28-2002 04:22 PM

Vjestica, may I offer you some advice? I'm not criticizing your plan, but I am very concerned that you are just not getting enough calories in to for your body to function properly. The minimum advised calories per day is 1200. You're only getting half of that. Our bodies need a certain level of calories just to do necessary things like keep your heart beating, blood pumping, brain thinking, lungs breathing, etc. You say you're into karate....then you need even more calories to keep your body fueled properly. Maybe you can discuss this with your karate instructor? I'm sure he/she will tell you that you need more calories. You just can't maintain a caloric intake that low, and when you do increase the calories again you are going to gain back all the weight you've lost and probably more. The only way to really make weight loss work is a sensible diet based on the food groups and regular exercise. Our bodies are like cars. They need fuel to keep going, and if you don't put enough fuel in them, they won't work properly. I'd really hate to see you with health problems because you want a quick fix to a weight problem. We didn't gain it overnight, we can't lose it overnight. (As much as we would all like to! ) A safe weight loss is no more than 1 1/2 to 2 lbs per week. If you need help finding an eating plan that will help you lose weight AND stay healthy, we can help you find one. That said, don't let this chase you away. We're glad you joined us and we're all here to help each other!

Amyjo, we are going to start hauling stuff to the new place this weekend. I have the keys already. Movers are coming on the 20th for furniture and the majority of boxes. This weekend I'm going to take breakables and clothes and linens over, and some kitchen stuff that I don't use all the time. The more we do, the less we pay the movers! Yes, the state of some kids is sorry. I know you'll find a way to turn this into a positive, and some child somewhere will benefit.

Punkin, HAPPY FRIDAY!!!! :D Enjoy your slug-fest!

Sheila, lettuce sandwiches? Too cute.

Flower, come out and play!

Gotta run, hubby's car is no longer dead and we have to pick it up. Only $600 to be reincarnated. What a deal.

Punkinseed 07-01-2002 11:04 AM

Happy July 1st everyone! Can you believe it???? I've already started Christmas/Yule shopping... sick, I know, but that's just how I am.... :p

Vjestica - So how did the orange belt test go???

Amyjo - How are the young'uns? Feeling better I hope?

Wildfire - Happy moving day!! I hope you are able to find everything, nothing gets broken and you're box-less soon!

Gotta run now, I'll be back later!

Terri

Hey girls, if any of you are interested we have an active bunch posting on the 21-Day Challenge. I'm actually on Day 26...into my second block, and it's really motivating!

Punkin, how did your door curtain turn out? Looks like I'll be doing some redecorating at the new place. The larger bedroom is the deep violet room, and my bedroom furniture just won't fit in the smaller room, so I'll be living in violet for a few years. I'm going to sponge or rag-roll the top half with a light mauve, though, to brighten the room a little...very cave-like right now....and put up a pretty border at about halfway up the wall, and leave the bottom the dark violet. It's cheaper to order new bedding than to prime and paint over the violet! I'll probably be doing that next weekend....too hot here this weekend. It's supposed to hit 35 Celsius today! Found some pretty bedding in white with a mauve striped skirt on the bottom, and loose pattern of light purple flowers. I'll do some bright white curtains and white lampshades, and it will be nice. I'll just have to put my makeup on in the bathroom! :D

Amy, did you survive the weekend with the kids? How are they doing?

Sheila, are you packing too? Any news on the new place yet? I absolutely hate waiting!

Vjestica, how are you doing?

Hubby and I hauled boxes all weekend in the heat, but all our collectibles and breakables are at the new place now. My china cabinet should be arriving this week, so I'll be able to put everything away where it belongs, finally!

Today is going to be a slower day...some laundry and straightening up here in my sea of cardboard. I've been trying to clean my kitchen for three days now....just when I get it cleared, it's a mess again! Such is the chaos of moving.

Happy Canada Day! ('tho I think I'm the only Canuck on this thread now. :D )

Amyjo01 07-01-2002 11:38 AM

It is more about the kids surviving me, I have gone from depression to (*#&#$*&% from heck. They both seem to be feeling some better. I got a script from one of the residents a the hospital for some Keflex for DS. DD is on Penicillin for the teeth so maybe she wont catch what ever DS has on top of her teeth bothering her.

I had to work Graveyard Saturday Night so I am still in the Zombie mode. I am actually suppose to be at school right now but I just don't really give a cow right now.

WF- I may check out that thread. I really need to do something, it isn't that my eating is that skewed I just have to get my rear back into exercising.

Hope everyone else had a good weekend.
Amy

HAPPY CANADA DAY!!!!!!!!
Wildfire STILL no straight answers on that place I am getting ticked.. I did come up with an arrangement with current landlord though she is tryng to say that it was signed under diress the arrangement.. Well little do people know I do know few of the statures of my state laws by heart and I inform them when they try to take my rights away which stature they are in violation of..So I could stay here but I really ont want to now .. She ruffled my feathers with the way of how she dealt with things . I no longer feel comfortable with the situation so I am going to do what I have to on behalf of my legal rights as a tenant and to protect MY family to every extent I need to.. (Legally of course) She has no legal leg to stand on my rent is paid in full till 7/8/2002 I could have petiotioned the court and she would have had to pay my family $1000 a day for everyday that ad ran plus for everyday I was disturbed by when she showed the apartment.. She is saying I am not being a good tenant causing her a hard time.. Well if she wants me out give me a 30 day WRITTEN notice with a LEGAL reason whyshe wants us out Till then she will see my beautiful face every day until I give her a 30 day WRITTEN notice that I will leave the premises.. Other then that everything is Peachy keen.. I am still packing though I will charm that mobile owner till I get that place I want..I think I will check out the thread you recommended though I still cant post everyday weekends are my offline time.. CAnt you repaint the room to what you want???
Vjestica. I USED to think the same way you do about the calorie thing.. This is a copy and pasted quote on your post "As far as my diet goes, I know it’s way to law in calories, and as I said – I’m fighting with it – somehow I’ve convinced myself that anything above is not dieting, and if I go over even a few calories I completely fall of the wagon. I’m trying to increase it daily – I’ve had 700 cal yesterday and I stayed on track (not much but it’s an improvement for me). I went down to 228 by thinking that way and gained it all back PLUS some within 4 months..So I know what and how you think.. It does take alot to think differently it isnt the easiest thing for me to admit that what I thought was wrong till it bit me back HARD in the hienie.. I am working hard to consume 1200 GOOD food calories.. And please dont think I am preaching, I am just giving you an example that I personnaly went thru.. Wildfire (my cybersis to the north) is the one that helped me (I have known her for a while) so A few years back I told her to kick my butt into gear if I was not doing things right.I should say everyone here has pretty much kicked my butt into gear but I have known Wildfire a lot longer..
AmyJo I am glad to see your kids are getting better.. I know how it feels to be the (*&^%$#@ from Heck I am one of them ..I know your going thru alot with kids being sick and other personal things but DONT LOSE FOCUS of school..I know you are zombie tired so that is fine BUT the school was something you have workedyour REAR off to do.. You were guided in that direction and I know it is rough but please dont let the rough course interrupt your focus.. OK?? (no I am not preaching just hope you do know there is a reason for everything as lame as that excuse sounds I have found out the HARD way)
Well all Take Care sorry I didnt address each of you I am still hot extra bloated and snippy .. My skinn feels too small for my body today..
Talk soon
Sheila

Punkinseed 07-01-2002 04:06 PM

Hello everybuddy,

Whatta Monday... one our employees called in "sick" (uh huh, yea sure), but at least my Mom's home so I have some office "assistance" (uh huh, yea sure) - that means I got to make lunch without answering the phone.

Wildfire - The curtain turned out really cute! I got the beige curtain and stamped it with light violet spirals (my whole kitchen is eggplant/beige/white). Amazing how adding a little curtain just does "it" - a nice finished look, and it'll help keep my kitchen from heating up so much when the sun goes down and right through that door!

Amyjo - Glad to hear the kiddo's are feeling better! They'll survive you just fine ;), we survived OUR parents didn't we?

Well, weigh in wise it was a bad week. Up 2.5, but I'm not surprised since I've been very lazy since I came home last Sunday. I don't think I've made a "real" dinner since I came home (buttered sourdough bread is NOT a real dinner). Next week; onward and downward. Thanks for the offer Wildfire, I just may see ya at the 21 day challenge!

Terri

Vjestica 07-01-2002 06:46 PM

Hello all

As of Saturday I’m a proud holder of an orange belt in Karate! :D Unfortunately, that resulted in big celebration that night (three of my friends also got their yellow belts) where I held on until 1:30, and then I drank enough to set me back days with my diet – especially considering the Sunday hangover that made a channel change with remote an effort similar to climbing a mountain top.
:dizzy:

Wildfire: I always welcome suggestions and I know that all critique is for my own good – and believe me I’m trying to change my habits. I’ve been on that road “loose – gain – loose – gain again” forever (or so it feels), so I’m more than aver that a change is needed, and I’m getting there – slowly but surely.

Amyjo01: Thanks for the welcome! And I hope you made more of your weekend than I did of mine (at least Sunday) – I was suppose to do so much on both days, but at least I used Saturday well (sort of)…

Sheila: Thank you so much for your support, it’s nice to know that I’m not the only that ever fought with this particular problem. And I hope you solve the problem with your landlord as soon as possible…

Punkin: Sorry to hear about the setback on scale, but it’s only temporary – new day, new beginning!

I’m going back to my studying now, have to make up for that as well (studying while dieting – not a winning combination for either). I have several exams during this week, but I’ll try to stay on track with my diet during all the pre-exam stress.

PS: Sorry for the delay but Happy Canada Day to all Canadians here!

Punkinseed 07-02-2002 10:14 AM

Hello all...

Super tired... haven't slept all that great since I returned from California which is probably contributing towards my lazy attitude towards cooking. Tonight I have a "real" dinner planned (marinated chicken, red potatoes and salad) - wish me luck!

Vjestica - Congratulations on the orange belt accomplishment!!! As for the hangover - water, lots and lots of water!!

I bought my first American flag yesterday and they didn't have flag poles! What is that about???? So, when I go get my paint mixed (to paint my pump house and carport) I'll pick one up at the hardware store. This year it feels like the 4th is "extra meaningful" because of Sept. 11th - I needed a flag, I got my flag... not that anyone will see it since my house sits almost 300 feet from the road, behind a bunch of trees. Guess it just matters to me!

Hi ho, Hi ho....

Terri :moo:
