Stressed Out
Recently I made a post about calories and it was suggested I up my intake. The last few days I have done so to 1500 but now I have put on 4 pounds. Is this to be expected until my body readjusts to the new calorie intake or what? :|
|
Maybe :-)
Look at it this way, a pound = 3500 calories, right? So how many did you add to your previous intake? CERTAINLY not 3500. So there may be other factors involved, or your body may be adjusting. One thing is for certain - it is not possible to gain 4 lbs of fat from 4 days of eating slightly more calories. The scale can blip for many reasons, including water retention, hormones, and increased exercise. Give it a few days to calm down, OK? |
I went from around 1200 to 1500. And thank you for the reassurance. I was freaking out :|

Yesterday morning I weighed 158. This morning I was 159. I ate the same exact amount of calories both days. So why did I "gain" a pound?
Could be the stupid sugar substitute that upset my stomach and bloated me, it could be that I didn't take in as much water as I should have or it could have been that I worked out harder than usual. It could even be that my TOM is coming. You just never know. But as long as you know you didn't eat 14,000 calories extra in 4 days, enough to add 4 lbs., I would just wait it out. That scale can be our worst enemy sometimes. I was so psyched up because I had been losing consistently and then BAM! It took me about an hour to regain my composure and keep moving. |
It gets so frustrating at times. Thank you so much for the comment. We will get past this and keep trudging on
|
I have to wonder what you "spent" your 300 extra calories on? Was it something processed (like frozen meals)? Something with a high sodium content? Or perhaps extra carbs you aren't used to eating? If so, water retention could definately play a part in this.

I added more fruits and veggies and some lean protein..ie turkey breast.

Actually I was going to also ask if cabbage was one of the things...lol but extra fruit and veggies would do the same thing... Sometimes if I eat a lot of fiber foods, (like cabbage or broccoli, apples etc.) I have what I like to call a colon build up...(for lack of a better word.) It eventually all comes out in the end...:o |
Hehe, thanks. Sauerkraut is one of the things I added so maybe.. :|

Yeah, I didn't realize that. Thanks for pointing it out. I just looked at the can and it has 180mg of sodium for 2 tbsp :|
|
Like everyone else here has said, don't stress too much! If you know you're doing the right thing, then that 4lbs will eventually fall away. I always get disheartened when I see things like that on the scale, so I try not to weigh myself more than once a week...maybe that will work for you too?
Hang in there, you're doing great! That picture in your icon is AMAZING! |
Thank you so much
