jellydisney, of course food is pleasurable. Every creature on the planet that has to eat to live loves its food. But the pleasure of satisfying hunger is different from eating to "have fun," or eating to stuff unhappy emotions, or eating to fill a void. So I think you're talking about different things.
Emotional eating is more like: Eating when bored, eating when sad, eating when anxious, eating when angry. I think it begins for some folks when their parents get them to behave, stop whining, stop crying, or whatever, by giving them food, usually sugar. It's no wonder that later in life that person eats when the going gets rough.
