BodPod
Anyone ever done this? www.bodpod.com
I have an appointment this afternoon, I wish I would have done it 25lbs ago. I really need some motivation to get back on track, and I really just don't have any. Maybe seeing some new numbers to deal with will help give me something new to want to work on. Make sense? |
I haven't done it (nobody really around here), but I know people who have. The first thing to know is that it's only a number. Almost everyone I know who has done it found a higher BF% than they thought (most using calipers). I tried a couple of the universities around here a while back, but none had them open to the public. The one who might is a fair drive from here. I figured I didn't really need someone to tell me my bodyfat was high (I know that), but it might be something I'd make the trip to find out closer to goal.

This is at Navy base whee my husband is stationed. I know a lot people say if they had the money for gyms, personal trainers, nutritionist ect, they could lose weight. Well I have access to it all, and for free, and do I do it?? NOPE!! I do really good for a couple months, then thats about it. I guess the good news is that I did lose 25lbs, but the bad news is I have stopped. Its not a platue, at least not a physical one. Its a mental. 1 voice is saying, GET UP, go for that walk/jog, go punch in the punching bag, put on your work out clothes and drive to the gym after dropping the kids off to school(I take them in my jammies) Then there is the voice that says, Nope, dont want to!! And thats the voice that wins out.

Mandy, just take it one day at a time. Maybe you can lay your workout clothes tonight before you go to bed and jump right in them before you take the kiddos to school. Then you can workout right away since you're out of the house--autopilot straight to the gym. Just for one day.

the bodpod was developed here at my university!
i was evaluated in it. that was a hard day. the number was terribly upsetting. but the professor who did the tests had lots of great advice for me. i hope your day goes well! (it's a bit of a weird experience. hope you;re okay with enclosed spaces.) isolde |

How much did it cost? There is a place not too far from here that offers it to the public.

Ahh ok. I'm guessing something like $100. I know the thing Ballys used to offer was around $40 and that only figured out your RMR.

neat! it looks like the online calculators aren't always that far off. we are about the same height/weight so seems like a good estimate.
