Bobble-Right now I'm kind of feeling negative towards doctors as well myself. Thank you for sharing your experiences!

Weegreenlassie-THAT IS GREAT NEWS!

I am not opposed to accupuncture or getting regular massages for now if I am still not given a diagnosis. I have noticed after my husband massages my legs and my back for me I do feel SO much better but it is a lot of work on his part and he is up early and late with me and I feel bad about that at times. The only thing is I would want to go to someone reputable especially with accupuncture! I have a feeling my doctor is not all that supportive of those types of things. He seems very traditional which is why I say that but I could be surprised. My husband last night also suggested that it may be time for me to get a new PCP doctor as well. He brought up some very good points last night that have me considering some things especially things that have happened this year and the fact that he also only sees one kind of population which is the elderly. My husband noticed that every time he's gone with me that we are the youngest people in the waiting room and when I took the time to think about it I realized he was right lol. Also I have had to be a bit pro active this year already just about being tested for the mono and my thyroid and I don't think he did more than the basic test for my thyroid. I essentially had to go around my regular doctor and get the ENT doctor I saw for my tonsils to test me for mono. I found out there are also two other tests that can be done to check on your thyroid and I think he's only done the main one. I do have an appointment with him on Monday to talk to him about what to do next and we'll see how it goes I guess. I have some questions to ask him for sure. But I do have the numbers and names of two doctors already that I'm willing to go see for a second opinion. I'm bit down today because I woke up not feeling well of course to the point where I was concerned about driving safely and I canceled lunch plans I had with someone that I was looking forward to and I feel like I disappointed her and ME too. Oh when I was weighed yesterday I discovered I was up to 207 and not 202 anymore. So I guess some of that giving into some of my cravings this last period did some damage and stayed with me. Oops..My husband put a piece of paper on the fridge and wants me to record what I eat since the specialist we saw yesterday mentioned weight and good nutrition. I haven't really been sitting down anymore and going over and thinking about my food choices like I was at one point since right now I'm just sort of mindlessly eating since I'm tired. Anyways have a great day!

Blonde - when I was researching thyroid issues (the thinning hair made my little flag wave) I understand that that test is often NOT conclusive. You can get a negative test result, still have symptoms, be treated AND get better. An alternative practitioner might be more open to treating you without a positive test result. I was thinking of that for myself when I went back east as there is a good clinic there of "real" doctors that work with women and hormone issues. And they are proponents of alternative options. I don't know about the fever - it seems our Jeannette might have more information? But the weight gain, fatigue and thinning hair all fit the bill. The fever could be because you are struggling with these uti infections or the mono, maybe? OY VEY! I am not a doctor, obviously just trying to be supportive.

Your husband sounds smart - good observations on his part. Massage is pretty amazing. It can loosen up all sorts of stuff. I really believe we have an energy body that is foundational - that the issues start there (blockages for example with emotions) and then manifest physically if not resolved.

Do you have any health stores where they do those $1 a minute chair massages? Even a few minutes once or twice a week sounds like it might be some heavenly therapy :-)

Accupuncture - never tried it but know people personally who have gotten great results in just a few sessions for all sorts of things. A chinese medical doctor will be really strange - but the more I read on this stuff with their "hot and cold" "dry and wet" diagnoses, and how it helps people (again anecdotally) the more impressed I am (homeopathy also works with unusual sets of symptoms we in the west shake our heads at - like what side you sleep on, what time your symptoms come on, what food prefernces you have).

HUGS!!!!!!

Bobble-Thank you so much for your response. I really appreciate it. I'm considering also going to my ob/gyn for an appointment as well. She's the one that diagnosed my PCOS and insulin resistance after my regular doctor did only the basic tests. So I think she might be more open to me as well as far as testing me with the other two tests for thyroid function. But yes I am really concerned now about the thinning hair thing since I read that today as well too and it's frustrating that I can't seem to get below 200. I don't think I'm imagining that the thinning hair thing. I'm so confused right now I'm starting to wonder if it's all in my head or I'm becoming paranoid at any new thing that I notice like the thinning hair but the fatigue and body aches are most certainly not in my head. I was 194 last year for like a day lol and I was hungry the entire time unfortunately. I keep being told or having it implied to me that I'm too young for thyroid issues but I do have more than 3 family members that I'm pretty closely related to that have to be on medication for it. Don't worry about the fever I truly do think it was because of I either did have too much sun that one day since I am one shade away from being an albino lol or it was because of all the infections like the UTI I had at the time and was still on antibotics for and now it's been gone for the past two weeks. Right now I live in an area that is half way between being the country and being part of the suburbs, it's being built on right now and we got here when it's still relatively cheap with the houses especially if they're in foreclosure :-). So it is a drive for me to get into a town right now and the closest health store I know of is 30 minutes away and it's very small and when I was last there I didn't see any signs of that nature advertising that type of massage. But that's a good idea. I'll keep that in mind. Anyways thank you so much for your response. I really do feel supported from you and others on this thread as well and that means a lot! And yes my hubby is one of those men who don't say a lot due to not knowing what to say to comfort me or support me and he'll just mostly try to hug me or touch me somehow and that's his way and I really have to try hard to remember that but when he does say something which is not very often they are often very astute observations and often are the other side of the coin that I had not thought about. :-)

Mtiger-Wow that is a lot of work. You certainly burned some calories!

I wanted to say hi to everyone before I went to bed. It has been an OK day. I had to take my dog to the vet twice today again since I noticed he had another infection and I took him in to be seen for that. We weren't home for an hour when it started bleeding pretty good and pus just coming out everywhere and I thought the cyst had burst and I couldn't get it to stop at first so back we went to the vet to make sure all was ok and that it wasn't a gaping open wound or anything which it wasn't thank goodness. I was about ready to cry at one point thinking of the money it was going to cost me since we're just handing out money lately like it's water to medical bills and I know it's just the tip of the iceberg.

So I made another interesting discovery today about my wacky body. Stretching feels really really good for the most part. So I'm excited about that and I got three stretching videos. I've been trying to move around more today and it feels better than sitting. The fatigue is often what prevents me from moving around though but I didn't have that too bad today. :-) But I have been a tad bit mood swingy today even my husband noticed and asked if I was still taking my medication which I am. One time I was unhappy and grouchy then 30 minutes later I was really happy and content. So I'm not sure if its because I'm so tired or if I'm stressed which I am both. I'm really trying to listen to my body right now and figure out how to work around this since that may be the only thing that can be done for now though I hope not. Anyways have a good night!

Hi TEAM

Sorry I have been a bit MIA again...Tough days at work.

BRAT ~ I sure wish I could help I just thought I might throw this in for what it's worth...maybe nothing. You mentioned about stretching....Angie loves to stretch...she often just sits on the floor watching TV and stretches for an hour or so. She does more yoga now than ever before. She used to have to see the chiropractor maybe once a month, she hasn't been in over a year since she started doing yoga more often. Just a thought. Sorry about the mutts...and the vet bills! I know that well

Well TEAM....I know I keep talking about losing those 5...well it is true baloney now ....I was officially 10 pounds over my 175 red line this morning I am so mad at myself and disgusted.

It seems like I have been on this two steps forward 3 steps back roller coaster now for way too long! No one to blame but myself... and Angie but she doesn't listen ...to my baloney

I have a new incentive...I am just about one month away from my 2 year anniversary of "journey of better choices"....

So here is my promise to you all for making OUR TEAM a success....

Starting Monday morning (since tomorrow is Father's Day ) I will eat and exercise the best I can off my "journey of better choices" plan that got me to my 1st year Anniversary weight of 170. I don't expect to be 170 but I believe I can get close to 175. The cruddy thing about that number...175...is that as of today, as I mentioned, I need to lose 10 pounds ....too much bratwurst and pizza this week....plus walking only 4 miles this week...dang.

You have my word on that....for two reasons...#1 To prove to myself I can do this and #1A To prove to you I am worthy of being on OUR TEAM!

Oh and planning ahead....July 4th all bets are off...a free day There is just too much going on around here

I am off to Chicago for a few days. My kids are auditioning for American
Idol. It should be fun, but we are flying by the seat of our pants. No real plans. It should be fun. I'll check in when we return.

Down 1.5 since yesterday morning...maybe it was the sodium in the bratwurst?

Have a great day TEAM

Mtiger-Wow that is so cool! Good luck! You will have to tell us about that experience when you get back!

EZMONEY-YAY.. 1.5 down already! It definitely had to be some of that sodium.
As for you telling me about Angie and the chiropracter that doesn't surprise me so that is kind of my hope as well that I will see benefits. I would love to learn yoga or pilates myself. But baby steps... and I would have to find a class for beginners or a really good beginners video that is also closed captioned which those are really hard to find in work out videos in general it seems.

As for me oatmeal is really hitting the spot now for breakfast lately. I had forgotten how filling it is. Then for lunch I'm having a lot of PBJ sandwiches and those taste really good right now as well haha. We just got back from walking more than what I'm used to because we went to a gun show in town and it is an old Home Depot that is shut down becuz they moved to a better location and the whole store is just filled with long rows of tables and we walked down about half of the rows twice looking at the right side then left side ha. Then my husband could see that he wouldn't be interested in the rows that were further down plus he was unwilling to pay some of the prices and it was getting very warm in there as well. So we left. I wish I had thought to take my pedometer with me. I'm curious to know how much I walked maybe 1/4 of a mile. I would like to go for another walk again tonight when it cools down. I need to put bug spray on this time though. Have a great Sunday everyone!

Woah-- Mindy! That's cool!! I hope to see them on TV I love having someone i know (however distantly!) to cheer for!!!

Gary-- Awesome on the loss I love those first 5lbs.. they're always the easiest to lose! (too bad I keep losing the same 5.. )

blondebritbrat: I agree-- Oatmeal is what makes the world go round... Although, I've been making a breakfast sandwich lately that's like a healthier Egg McMuffin... Yummmm

And Mrs Augie: I had to just get rid of one my scales because I knew that by shifting my weight forward "just enough" I could be 5lbs lighter... *sigh* False hope is lovely sometimes...

I had my first performance since surgery (that I was ACTUALLY able to be in choreographies!) and I got this AWESOME picture from it: My feet are lovely and turned out, my back is straight... It's all that is good about Irish Dance Anyhoo-- Here's the picture! This is my happiness this week!

MsAugie-aww sorry about the scale being bonkers on you..

Weegreenlassie-VERY COOL..

So I just got back from running some errands and being at my doctor's office for a follow up and talking about what to do next. The solution may be so obvious and simple that I either want to laugh or cry or be a little ticked off. We've all been so concerned about it being something big that we haven't stopped to think about the simple things lol. If it is in fact this problem then I need to figure out what's stressing me out and how to deal and cope with it. I have been so tired I kept forgetting to tell him that my sleeping patterns had changed as well and that I get up repeatedly in the night being woken up constantly needing to drink and to go to the bathroom. I brought it up today because I wasn't sure if he had really tested me for diabetes and he assured me he had 6 weeks ago and I asked about all three tests in regards to thyroid and he has also done all three tests and they were completely normal perfect he said even. So the idea is that I'm simply sleep deprived from major insomnia and am waking up so much at night that I'm not achieving REM sleep since half the time I wake up on the hour every single hour in the ngiht. So he gave me some pretty good sleeping pills and I'm going to start taking them tonight. And in two weeks I go back and reassess with him and see if I'm feeling better. He said that major stress and lack of sleep can cause everything what I am experiencing physically and since it's been 8 months since all of this started.. I am seriously behind on my sleep. So I'm definitely looking forward to tonight and taking that sleeping pill and seeing if that helps. Anyways have a great day everyone!

Soo.. last night I slept very very well. I only got up once to go to the bathroom. I woke up feeling a bit sluggish but took a small nap later and that's helped and I definitely do feel better today. I don't feel like my old self but am closer to it but if this is the problem I can see myself feeling like myself in a couple of weeks hopefully. I even felt good enough to cook and made some lasagna today. I made it with whole wheat lasagna noodles and it's not bad. Hopefully it gets my husband's approval hehe.

EZMONEY- good going for eating better yesterday!

have a great evening!
