Thank you everyone for the comments. It was really nice meeting someone that could help me better understand what I was walking into and it was heaven sent. My appointment is next Wednesday morning and I was told to expect to have more tests done after he takes a look at me and talks to me. My husband will be going with me. Today was my last work day thank goodness. Food wise what I've been eating has been terrible but portion sizes wise has been good. I went out to eat with someone today for lunch after we were allowed to leave and she is not coming back next year since she will be going full time to finish her master's and she is someone I've wanted to hang out with all year long and I'm so glad I got to do that today. So I've enjoyed today even though I am very tired and I just plain hurt right now. I'm going to try to keep myself busy so that I don't have time to sit around and get scared or scare myself. :-) I start my online walking PE classes Monday as well. I'm already being asked by people to go out and do things this weekend since they know I'm off work and so I'm having to tell more people no and explain what's going on. So far everyone seems to have been fine with me saying no and if they're not well then they'll just have to get over it. I plan on doing nothing this whole coming weekend. Well have a great day everyone!

Happy Saturday All!

jules - Hey great work! I have heard the artificial sweeteners and other stuff in diet cokes actually work against losing weight. Seems counter-intuitive doesn't it?

blonde - Yeah, time to take care of YOU! It is tough saying no, but I can't imagine anyone who is a friend would not understand that right now you have to take things slowly while you figure out what's going on.

Okay, I'm officially a little depressed and discouraged. Despite going over to the department store yesterday and discovering yes, size 14 pants are tight BUT FIT, I still came home and had two beers, 2/3 a pint of Haagen Daas and three bowls of chicken soup (mostly chicken - the way I make it!). This was ALL ON TOP of my daily calories. Which included two poptarts. Sigh. I feel old I think. I have had an ongoing issue with of all places my HEEL in pain for like four or five weeks now. I can't seem to get a handle on my allergies and asthma, blah blah blah. I'm trying to bump up my look with these new contacts and picked up a frosting kit at the drugstore this morning. But I feel, well - just old. Like I'm fooling myself and I need to just go grey and embrace my frumpiness. I did the tape measure again last night and yes I've lost - but it seems so little. I mean of course, what am I expecting with what? Not quite 16 pounds lost. I'm really struggling to keep the enthusiasm up right now.

On the happy side of things (now that you all have listened to me whine!) I ran into a girl walking today that I have formed a little friendship with. We hadn't seen each other for months since her mother became ill - but hopefully have a date to go thrift store shopping next week. I love her energy and outlook on life. She's also lost weight - doing it very differently - some book by a British hypnotist entitled "I Can Make You Thin". Or something like that. So here I am addicted to the control I have of the scale and counting calories and she's given all that up to be more mindful of how she eats. It sounds good though - I think when I've reached goal I may try that as it sounds more like how you want to live your life. Eating for hunger not for "love".

And I am so excited about our trip back east I already have the suitcase out and packing. My BF is laughing at me.

I guess I just don't do well when my life gets too small. I always have to have a new adventure ahead of me. I need to keep in mind that I need to really work on mindfullness so I can learn to stay in the present and not get discontent when things arean't happening "fast enough".

Hope everyone is having a GR8 WEEKEND!!!

Went out with people from work last night. Didn't eat too much, but put away some calories in drinks. I bought 3 drinks and 3 people bought me a shot. Needless to say I had a bit of a headache this morning. BONUS--- I was dosn 1.5 pounds to 190.2. Should I try this everyday???

Bobble- I understand the old, depressed feeling. I did feel old last night since most of them are in their 30's. We just need to find some things that make us feel good and vibrant. Cutting loose last night was fun. Hopefully I wasn't too big a fool.

mtiger - LOL I know that feeling TOO! Although it's funny - now just two beers does it to me. When did I become a lightweight? I'm sure you were just fine, though!

Hmmm, with those scale results maybe I should have weighed this morning instead of waiting til tomorrow?
:

I looked up my heel pain finally - probably plantar fascitus (or something like that). Grrr. Usually happens to middle-aged overweight people....or runners. And since I'm not the latter I guess I'm the former. Double Grrrrrrrr.

But at least I have some solutions - some exercises to do and I'm hoping to find some adhesive heel pads to add to my shoes. Hopefully the more weight I lose the less I'll have to worry about it.

And I did the first step of my highlighting kit. I'm now a brunette (normally I have some sort of ash blond on). Very weird to see on myself BUT it solved the top of head issue with what I thought was my thinning hair (the grey makes me look positively like I had a run in with mange wherever I parted it). I guess it was more how light the hair was you could see the scalp more. Grey is more translucent, isn't it?

Now I just have to stay on top of my roots. EGH - Have NEVER been good about that. Interestingly, though - it does take a few years off my face. I needed that!

When BF gets home tonight I'll do the second step which is putting in the highlights. I need him to help me with the back.

The cottonwoods are in full force today - with the wind going it looks like the air is fool of cottonball missiles zooming around. Have to be careful to walk with your mouth shut...!

Just a quick hi. I am at the BF's apartment. We went to the market in the next town yesterday which I had been looking forward to, but is was raining very hard and we gave up after about an hour and went into some shops. Scored 2 pairs of pants 1 size smaller than I have been wearing. they fit perfectly, so HAPPY!
I was afraid that I would have to rain in that weather but it is gorgeous today.
It was really special running on an early morning in the Alps, never done that before. I used the time waiting at the airport Friday to just walk and walk. Great extra exercise.
I hope to drag the BF out for a hike this afternoon, it is so nice out.
His op is on Tuesday. It will be goood to get that over with.
I will catch up properly soon, in the meantime you all stay strong and relaxed.

Bobble-That's what I'm doing is taking care of myself! Everyone I've said no to has been pretty understanding. Wow.. how did your hair come out with the highlights? I've been going and having my hair highlighted for the past 5 years since my hair got to that weird in between color of dirty blonde and brown and well my budget is really tight right now and I've been considering getting a highlight kit and trying that out over the summer while I'm off work to see how that works.

Mtiger-Glad you had fun! I can only have 2 tops and I'm 25 so don't feel bad! I just don't drink on a regular basis. I'd rather have a coke than liquor. That's pretty funny you're down some pounds though. Usually I would be up.

Dutchgirl- I'll keep you BF in my thoughts! Sounds like you are having a good time though.

Well I am down almost another 3 pounds to 202.2 this morning. Friday night after I posted my husband came in from work and wanted to "reschedule" our anniversary dinner that was canceled due to me having to go to that medical center. So we went to the restaurant we had planned on going to and we discovered a nice shopping center there with a nice little park in the middle of it all plus a Walmart that's closer than the 25 minute drive I had been doing to another one. So I'm happy we went since that's about 12 minutes away. The food was to die for. Plus there were some other restaurants and a lot of them had some really nice patios that faced the little park that was in the middle so it was really nice and seemed very family oriented because when we got there there were families all over the place just watching kids play soccer with each other. So we sort of celebrated our five year anniversary late and also the fact I made it through a year of work haha all together. We really enjoyed ourselves. I was bit tired because of it yesterday but I'd say it was worth it. Hubby went to the races last night since he was given a free ticket and didn't get home until almost 1 so we're getting a late start today. We will go back to that Walmart and just grab some milk and diet coke and some breakfast things for the week. I'm having to do a temperature log daily every hour that I am awake for the specialist I'm seeing on Wednesday and it is becoming a hassle but it is good to see the data written down and no wonder I don't feel well and I'm sweating half the time.

Well have a great Sunday!

Beautiful Morning All!

Dutch - So glad you checked in - I know you'll be glad when the operation is over. Sounds lovely there - and CONGRATS on the reduced pants size! Although I had sort of stalled the last two weeks I could swear I'd lost weight. Even my "stats" didn't seem real impressive - just inch and a half average in waist and such. But I swear clothes fit better. I even fit into a few mediums when I went trying on clothes shopping the other day (okay - they were tight but they buttoned!). And I pulled on several 14's jeans that albeit snug, if I'd had the money, I would have probably brought them home.

So mtiger and mrsaugie - I know you are struggling with stall/up and down thing but have you checked to see if maybe that's been converting to muscle or something and you actually do fit into a smaller size?

I think all the time I'm fooling myself - that I just think I'm losing weight - but I guess on average (although brands are different) clothes don't lie...

Didn't do the highlights yet (just the base color). BF likes the brunette - thinks it looks better for my skin tone. Makes me look 'rosier'. He's probably right - but I think it looks a little boring myself. Guess I've always been addicted to the blond. But the highlights should help. Will do them tonight and let you know how it goes. I am a little nervous doing them myself, I have to admit. But I got the Loreal one that has this neat little tong like applicator that seems like it's going to make it very easy as long as I don't get overly ambitious! If they turn out well, maybe I'll finally post a picture.

Good scale day this morning. I'm down to 187 and only 2 lbs away from my 20 lbs lost avatar. Still not sure I can make under 180 by my birthday (which is part of why I've been so depressed) but at least this makes it within the realm of possibility again...

Well off to the RV today to at least finish cleaning. And there should be hopefully no more awful surprises on things being broken...I'll be glad to have that monster off our hands. I loved doing it, but next time - we're going van-sized! I'm a hippie, not a yuppie! LOL!

Blonde - oh that shopping/park/restaurant sounds WONDERFUL! Maybe developers are finally getting the hint we need more community and nature built into spaces. Congrats again on your five years. Keep taking that temperature ;-) You'll get this thing beat!

HUGS TO ALL! HOPE EVERYONE IS ENJOYING THEIR WEEKEND!

I have been working outside today. feel like i actually got something accomplished. Just finished dinner and need to workout yet. I have been doing some research on calories I should eat and also calorie cycling. One sight said I should eat 1743 calories a day. That seems like so much. I am thinking of trying it to see what happens. I am scared though. A high day goes up to 2092 calories, a low day 1520. I never hit 1500 on a high day as it is. Whatcha think???

bobble- I have the same thing. Sometimes it is fine and other times it flares up. I just keep going no matter what. That's just how I am. The stretches help some. They can be painful though.

Dutch- Enjoy the beauty of the country while you're there. Hope all goes well with your BF.

Brit- I hardly ever drink, so it hit me pretty hard. A couple of my co=workers were having a good time buying me shots and getting me drunk.

Mtiger-That is so me. I'm always the person that everybody is trying to get drunk to see if I'm funny acting when I have a couple in me or if I will finally do something stupid or etc.

I have decided what I would like for my christmas/ b-day present lol. I would like a nice butcher block kitchen island that is on rollers to give me a bit of more work space. Knowing my budget and how much I can save little by little now's the time to start saving up for one. We were cooking in the kitchen tonight together and we just needed a bit more counter space since we were given a toaster oven and that took up what we had mostly. I have too much time on my hands now lol. Have a good night!

HI TEAM ~

I have been reading but I am not posting...sorry

I have had some hard days at work, spent most of yesterday at my son's with my brother and bil doing more painting and putting things back together for them. The kids weren't much help They are so busy, my son was up in the northern part of the state all week-end with his track team at the State Finals and my dil was doing some cheer leading promotion work for the Chargers. They are really appreciative of our help though and because they are such good kids we all enjoy helping...but still getting tired!

So last night I come home from the kids, Angie is off at Sea World with her sister and 3 exchange students we had here for the week-end. I am pretty tired so I threw in a frozen pizza we had got the kids to snack on Friday night, they didn't need it because they were full from dinner at the Mexican place we went to. I knew they wouldn't eat it last night because they were not getting home until...well... this morning and they were leaving early to go back to their hosts homes.

So anyway here is the bad news for me....I ate the entire pizza I wasn't that worried about it. I have not had a frozen pizza in years....it was quite good actually, but like I said...I wasn't worried about it...until tonight, when I took out some trash. I had placed the box in the cardboard recycle, it was upside down....caught my eye....

8 Servings ~ I had 8 servings!

240 Calories per Serving ~ I had 1,920 calories in one meal!

100 Fat Calories ~ Let's just go ahead and have 800 freakin' fat calories

Sodium....let's just say it was 104% of my daily requirement

Some coach I am....

EZ - OOPS! OK, you messed up. We've all been there. and now you have fessed up. We've all been there as well. Question is, what are you going to do about it? You know what to do...
And you will ALWAYS be our coach, alright?

MTiger - Just try the cycling for a couple of weeks and see what it does. Glad you went out and had fun, we all need to let our hair down once every so often.

Bobble and Blond- way to go on the loss!

MrsAugie - hope you are getting a chance to relax

Relaxing is what I am trying to do, BF is at work today. tomorrow is d-day for him and he is much more nervous about it than he is willing to admit - and so am I, frankly. But I do have faith that it is going to be alright.

dutchgirl--wtg--a pants size smaller always feels good!!

EZ--coach's don't have to be perfect, just supportive and you are very much that!! I've done that myself--reading the calories AFTER eating or making something intending not to eat it all....but then it's all gone...

blonde & bobble--WTG on the loss!!

mtiger--I love being able to work outside--hopefully It will take some pounds off at the same time!!

Augie--Hi to you too...

not much going on....
