Good morning all!

Sheila - sorry to hear about your TOM - I'm expecting my visit shortly and it always wears me out. Glad to hear that you made the best of your "little money" anniversary. Banks can be real sticklers sometimes huh - I used to work for one and there's not much room for flexability. The important thing is that you had a nice time together.

Ginny - bummer about the computer problems. You sound pc literate enough though to be able to figure out what's going on and get it resolved quickly enough. I envy that because I usually get frustrated just waiting for my page to download! Congrats to your dd for the softball wins - I hope her team wins it all. And most importantly, good luck at the dentist! Yikes, I don't envy you right now. I've never had to have a root canal (knock on wood) but I know people who have and I know that it's something that I would never look forward to; so best of luck to you and I'll be thinking of you.

Chu-Chu - welcome! This is a great thread to become involved with - everyone is so encouraging and motivating! I know you'll like it here so I hope you visit often.

Judy, Mel, Jen and Latisia - keep up the good work and keep those chins up!

Misty, Spryng - where are ya ladies?

Ok, now for my stuff... I took oldest dd to the orthopedic specialist on Mon. and thankfully, her hand is fine! Not even a bruise! I was shocked when the cast came off - I expected it to look terrible but you would never know that a truck door completely closed on her little hand unless she told you! She was able to play t-ball Mon night and had a blast. It is so funny to watch 14 little boys and girls chasing after a hit ball! No one stays in their "assigned" position - they just all go running and then stockpile the poor kid who actually gets the ball first! It's such a hoot!

I'm so mad because for as nice as it was last week (mid 80's and sunny) it's the complete opposite this week (cold and rainy). It thunderstormed from Mon night about 7:30 until Tues night, same time. Just non-stop thunderstorm or rain the WHOLE time! It makes me so cranky when the weather is just relentless. Not to mention my Aunt and Cousin (3) are here visiting and we can't do any outdoor activities. I'm sure next week will be great and they'll be gone. What to do but grin and bear it right?

I just want to say thanks to everyone who posts here because not only is it nice to have people to talk to who really can relate and aren't judgemental; but whether you realize it or not, you are all very instrumental in getting me to work out every day. Just coming to this site for me is motivational and makes me want to work out - even if little or none of the conversation relates to weight loss. I always feel good after reading your posts and then I'm energized and actually want to go workout. This is what I was lacking before and am SO VERY THANKFUL that I have found it here. So now that I have gushed long enough, I will end just by saying thanks and have a great day ladies !

Hi, I really need some motivation!! That sounds weird considering I have 3 year old twins!! I'm always up and running. But, it's not helping me lose weight. I know I need to work on my diet!! That would help a bunch!! But I can't stay motivated to excercise or stick to healthy eating. Any motivation to get me and keep me going would be a huge help!!

thanks!!

Angry Hi!

How was everyone's day, we had a nice day here. Low temp. and mostly cloudy, which was nice with this sunburn!

Ginny, thanks for the sunburn tip, I didn't know that, but I'll sure try it though!!! Also, BIG CONGRATS to Dd, and good luck with the root canal. I (luckily) have never had one either!!!

Sassy, I feel the same, this site is such a great motivation for me too! I have no one to talk with around here, and boredom & lonelyness is a lot of my problem. Sorry to hear that you and your company were stuck indoors, maybe it'll clear so yall can get out a little!

As for me today was much of the same, running the roads and eating out. But I'm still trying to watch what I eat anyway, and I have reduced my portions a little more. We've also decided that the whole family is going to start my diet with me, isn't that so very thoughtful! I think we're going fishing again, if our nephew is feeling better (he started feeling bad today).

Welcome Super Mom, you have sure come to the right place, I've only been here a little while and every one is wonderful!!! Good Luck

Have a nice evening, TTYL

Hiya all!

Welcome Super-Mom! This is a great place to come for motivation, inspiration and support. It'll take you no time at all to find that out. I'm Jen, but because there's another Jen in the thread, I use Sassypie instead I'm married almost 8 years (6/18), have 2 girls and 1 pup. I just started my program which is excersize and moderation. So far I've not lost weight but I have noticed a change in my body - it looks better in my biased opinion and after only a few short weeks We shall see what happens from here!

With small children it does seem like you're always running but I think many women will agree that all that running after the kids leaves mom a bit deprived when it comes to nutrition, sleep, relaxation, etc. Just hang in there and if it's what you really want you'll find a way to make it work.

Well all, I'm surprised to see that there's not a lot of chat here in the last few days - where is everyone? Not a whole lot goin on here - got my hair cut and highlighted. Looks ok - no change since last time, I couldn't make up my mind on what I wanted so I left it. Today and the next few days are supposed to be warm so I'll be out in the sun with the girls workin on the yard. Well, time to get lunch together. See yall later!!

Howdy!

I thought that I'd check in so that you know that I'm ok. I also wanted to welcome Super_Mom! I think that I have welcomed the rest of you newcomer's & if i missed any of you, I apologize. To fill you all in: I'm a SAHM of 2 children. A ds that is 13 & a dd who's 8. At exactly 10:30 a.m., I was officially back to a FT SAHM when dd finished off her school year. My ds is done @ 11:30 a.m. tomorrow. I'm looking forward to a fun-filled enjoyable summer break with them! I stopped by our local Chamber of Commerce & picked up attraction/event & lodging information on local & state-wide things to do over the summer. Now-back to info about myself. I've been happily married to the same dh for nearly 18 yrs. (6/23). Besides our 2 children, we have 1 house cat named Klarabelle & a goldfish named Charlie. We have temporary housing for 12 tadpoles that are kept in my dd's room until they turn into little froggies & start jumping around. We also have a stray Mamma cat that decided to have a small litter of kittens in our outside wood pile. (3 to be exact) So...at the current moment: We have 5 cats!! I used to be a City Letter Carrier for the good old USPS, but quit 4 years ago to stay home with my kids. My dh travels quite frequently for business & it was too much of a rat race to work FT & balance a homelife as a geographical single parent & then when my dh was home for the weekend, I'd have to work all day on Saturdays & he'd have to be the single parent! So-this sums up my life in a nutshell & believe me, it does get a little "nutty" at times in our household! Well, dd is calling me & is "hungry", so I guess it's time to sit them down to dinner. I'll try & check in later, okay? Thanks for keeping the thread going while I'm finishing up the loose ends before we go gung-ho with our summertime activities.

Default Hello,

It's been another beautiful day here, and we've really enjoyed everybit of it so far!

I guess I'll introduce myself too, Super Mom, I'm Mel or Melissa (31y/o) and I live in North east Texas. I have an 11 y/o Ds, and I'm happily married for 7years as of 4/14/02
I've been struggling with my weight most all of my life, but especially for the last 10 years. I'm about to start Weight Watchers, and the family is willing to try it with me!

Well, not much going on now, but I need to get cleaned up from our busy day! Have a good night!

Hi !
Welcome Supermom!!!!!! You will find plenty of help and encouragement here.......we all have our ups and downs and a smile for everyone! (unless they ask for a kick in the can- which is administered in a gentle fashion.........) You did not tell us much about yourself. (fill us in as you feel comfortable doing so - no pressure). How much do you want to lose? Do you have any plans on how you would go about doing so? Do you like to excercise? Walk? Well, to fill you (and all the other newcomers in, as I have had no time to properly update newcomers) I have 3 children Dd (16), Ds (13) and Dd (6), a great Dh and one very silly cat with an attitude. As of most recently, I am a part time bus driver for the local school district- which will hopefully allow me to spend more time at home and have the same schedule as my children, summers off too! (College approaches in 2 short years for Dd so I have to do something).
I have about 17 # that I would like to rid myself of- possibly more- but my Dr said 17 would be good. I walk a lot (great stress relief) and when I am being good am on Weight Watchers. (which I must get serious about again). So now you know something about me.
Lots of us have been here for a while, over a year as a matter of fact. And we have a lot of new friends here too- this is a great thread. No one gets judgemental- noone will scream at you - hey we all have bad days and noone is perfect. And on those days when it is so hard to stay on your diet- this is great to check in and say hello- kind of helps keep your focus. I have really come to love these ladies here and we really care about each other.
Oh, and we do tend to get silly here from time to time- so watch out for that too!

Mel and Jackie- good to see you check in. Neither of you really mentioned all that much of a personal nature, everything ok? Jackie- you all wrapped up in summer plans?
Mel, hows the sunburn?
SassyJen (how's that for a name!- hope you do not mind)
I am glad that you got your hair highlighted- bet it feels and looks good too!!!!!!!!!!! So nice to be pampered like that. Good for you.

As for me, today did not totally turn out as I wanted. I had an appointment this am for my hair to be trimmed - and at the last minute Dd told me she needed a ride to school for a final and practice.........so the hair gets done next Thursday. Well, at least it will look nice for Dd's kindergarten graduation! Lets see, where was I .......oh......Dd's softball game is Sat. at 11 am- the State semifinals.......so she and Dh are getting super keyed up about it. (is there life other than softball??????? hmmmmmmm)
I did get the root canal done-I am a bit sore tonite, but I think I can stay away from the narcotic pain killer- advil might be enough for me to sleep ok. I have made it thru the day with just advil.
This is not my first root canal, and I usually come thru it just fine.
On a brighter note, I finally picked up the pattern and material for Dd's bonnet and apron- she is Goldilocks in her kindergarted graduation play and has to wear both. As though I needed a cheap excuse to sew?
The weather here has been crummy so this am I did my step tape instead of a walk. Nice for a change. My eating is so-so, I have to get motivated again. Tomorrow am I'll get out my WW books and leave them in the kitchen so that I am reminded of what I am trying to do.
Gotta go reboot the computer and see if I have succeeded in correcting my computer woes!!!!!(keep your fingers crossed, I am not that good at this stuff).
Have a great nite.
Ginny

Angry Fine!

Good night!

Well, how was everyones day? We had a really nice day, temp. was good and a few clouds helped to keep us cool while we fished most of the day! (didn't catch a thing, just made sunburn a little worse) Tomorrow we're suppose to go swimming, and maybe fish from the pier, instead of in the boat, which is good because then you can move out of the sun if need be!!! My Dh was so worried about catching something that we'd just get into the shade and he'd troll right on past.

I didn't eat much during the day, but this evening I really over did it! But, that's really my problem anyway. I'm not hungry all day, and in the evening the family sit down together for supper. I know that I'm going to have to change that, but then I feel as if I'm skipping out on family time, and I feel guilty for it! what to do?

Ginny, I tried the Benadryl, and it really did the job, until we got back into the sun today! So I'm about to pop another Benadryl and go to bed. But thanks again for the tip, and I'm glad that your root canal went fine and also glad you're not in too much pain! Hope that you can get some rest!

Have a good night everyone!

Good Morning, Everyone!

Ahh...I've been waiting for this day for a long...time! A day to just lounge around in my jammies & stay low-keyed. The only thing high-keyed in my life this a.m. is my keyboard, which is sitting on the handlebars of my recumbent bike! And no gals-I'm not pedlin'! I'm sitting here in my Tweety Bird p.j.'s typing away at the keyboard with my bare feet resting on the pedals, but not turning! How's that for exercise? Tweety Bird has a little caption above him that reads: "Just wying awound in da fwesh frowews, day dweaming da day away. Wewaxing with nothing better to do. Just lounging awound!"

Signed: Tweety

Well gals, I did get a chance to weigh-in this a.m. & the unfortunate results were: Still up those lousy 3#! I did manage to lose 1.5# of them, but somehow they found me again! Well, the school field trips are all done & I can now stay home & make better food choices. For all you new gals & ones that haven't posted for awhile: We have a challenge in progress to lose 5# by June 30th & so far I'm going in the wrong direction! Spryng, one of our long-time members put us up on that challenge! We haven't heard from her this week yet. I sure hope that she's ok. She was having tons of computer problems last week, so this may be the problem why she hasn't checked in. If that's the case, I sure hope that she can borrow someone's computer to let us all know how she is! Now, as for me trying to make better food choices: I'm supposed to be following the Fit For Life Program, along with keeping track of my WW points. I'm supposed to only have fruit in the a.m. until noon. I then can have just about anything, as long as I don't mix a carb like bread/pasta/crackers, with a live protein like meat, fish & poultry. I'm still trying to figure out all the rules to the FFL plan, but I've lost 16# so far following what I do know! I also drink tons of water & try & pedal on my recumbent bike at least 3-5 times p/wk. I've only went on once this week, but I have gotten in a lot of walking with all the outdoor field trips that I've been on this week. I plan on pedalling a little later today after I pick up my ds from his final 1/2 day of school! I'm also dusting off all the low-cal cookbooks to have fun in the kitchen with my dd & for us both to stay motivated! Well gals, so much for staying in my jammies! DS called about an hour ago to tell me that he forgot his yearbook & I had to stop typing, get out of my pj's & drive 15 min. away from home, run up 4 flights of stairs to deliver his yb to his home room! I guess this is part of my FT SAHM life. So much for staying @ home, huh? Well, I'm getting hungry so I'll stop for now & have a grapefruit. TTFN!

Good morning!!!!!
Glad to hear from you Jackie and Mel!
Just a quick hello-as I have another busy day- wish I could be in my tweeties too, Jackie!
Woke up at 5 am with a screaming toothache- which thankfully 3 advil has subdued. I still look lumpy- swollen- and hopefully that will go down soon. No walk yet- I will get out in a few minutes once the drizzle stops.
Gotta go- I am still trying to debug this computer!
Have a great day.

Default Morning!

I thought I'd check in before I got my day started, everyone else is still sleeping! I am trying to get a little house work done before we are off again. Swimming and maybe a little fishing, the sunburn feels a bit better, but not ready to roast again! I'd be happy if I could just stay home, get some cleaning done and relax but no. Today is the last day of Dh official Vacation, and after we make it through this weekend , I'll be home free!!!

Ginny, sorry to hear that your tooth is still bothering you, hope it's all better soon!

Jackie, I envy you today, even if you did have to get dressed.
Please enjoy some rest for me too, we haven't stopped since school got out! But next week should be much better!

Everyone have a good day!

Hi Ginny, Yes I think I will stay out of the sun! We just found out that we are approved for financing on a camper to put on our lake lot, so we're going to take care of all of the paper work for that today. We're so excited! Good luck with the computer, hope it's nothing major. How is your tooth feeling now, take care of yourself too. Thanks BBL

Hi ladies!

Ginny - sorry to hear about your tooth, I hope it feels better soon!

Jackie - your Tweetie pj's are hilarious! If only we could all live like that everyday...

Mel - The camper idea is awesome! You and your family will have a blast this summer - I'm glad everything is working out!

I just dropped the princesses off at my dm and df's house. Sooooooo..... I have the rest of the day to who? ME!!!! I'm gonna go outside and actually get some yard work done with out any, "Mommy, can I have some juice?" or, "Mommy, can you push me on the swing?" or even, "Mommy, I hurt my ________ (insert appropriate body part here) ". Ha ha - I hate to be so smug but it seems that I've needed this day to come for a while - it's been a hard mommy week!

But first, I have to go workout. I'm working upper body today so I can have lean and firm arms, back, chest and tummy (someday ) So everyone, have a great day, I'll try to check back in later or at least this weekend, but if not, have fun and good luck OP!

Well, I have to admit I've been a bad girl. I've stayed away this week because I've had a dismal eating week, and just haven't wanted to face it. Oh, and no exercise either. I gotta find some control and begin to use it.

I just wanted to wish everyone a nice weekend. I've kept up with the posts, but I'm really not in the mood to run down the list and address everyone individually... please forgive me. I will try to catch up with you all next week.
