A scale can be your worst enemy. You may feel yourself shrinking but it doesn't show on the scale. And even though you've exchanged fat for muscle, you can get hung up on the number. Also, I think it's easy to throw in the towel if we don't see what we expect to see on the scale. I tend to get very frustrated. But I have to remind myself of the good things I've done. Good for all of you that have the will power not to look. :)

It's a bit of a double-edged sword. On the one hand, obviously any fluctuation is going to drive you crazy (as it does me) when you're weighing regularly. On the other, I know that when I say I'm going to follow my diet and exercise plan and just not look at a scale, I gain 10 pounds because I know I don't have to face that number every morning.

My problem is that if I get on the scale, and I have lost any weight (even just 3 pounds), I tend to slack off on my diet. So I just stay off the scale. How your clothes fit is good enough, I think.

You could try measurements -- it's really a more accurate gage of your progress, but you don't have to be obsessed with a number.

This time around, I am not going by what the scale says. Specifically because I am working out more and weight lifting, I think that if I have a gain I will want to stop with the lifting (muscle weighs 3x more than fat). So I will not weigh myself, and I will just base my weight loss off of how I am feeling and how my clothes are fitting.

When I started my journey I was doing a modified version of WW after doing about 5 days of Michael Thurmond 6 week body makeover. I weighted once a week. Let me say first, that when I did WW or any other diet before the scale was an obsession for me. It dictated what kind of day I had.... and what kind of day my family had as well. However, this time around I have recorded my weight and I weigh more frequently. Everyone is different, if we were the same the same diet/eating plan, clothing size, etc would work for all of us...... so for me, it helps me to weight at least every other day. The reason for this is it helps me stop the 5lb, that turns into 10, 20, 30, etc pound gain. BUT, that is just me. Just my 2 cents.
