I think task sharing and delegating are important for all parents, so mum doesn't have to be wonder woman. Also, I made big meals twice a week, froze stuff or ate leftovers a lot. Your partner might have different hours, could either do the morning stuff or evening stuff....it all depends on what you each feel you can do. As the kids get older, they just have to pitch in. My girls were very independent, I have NEVER packed a school lunch, just helped them do theirs for instance.
If you have a large house, a live-in nanny can be cheaper than day-care! then you get some house-keeping/cooking thrown in. |
Put me down as another early bird. I get up before 4 am and hit the gym first thing, by 5 am. I have a gym facility right at the office, which is a great convenience. My husband does the morning routine, getting the boys off to school before HE goes to work. I generally work 10 hour days, but still get home early enough to handle dinner, errands, and homework. My husband does his workouts after work.
On weekends I still get up very early to run. I do a lot of crock-pot bulk cooking on the weekend, and freeze portions for weekdays so I just have to heat it up and add side dishes or a salad. It's just as quick as take out and a lot healthier. I also sing in my church choir and volunteer at least 30 hours per year my children's school. It's all a matter of planning and coordination. However I have a supportive husband and we can tag-team the kids. If I were a single parent, that would be an entirely different story. |
